My husband and I stayed only one night in the cabin with the amazing view.
The good:
the cabin was clean and the bed comfortable. The cabin has an extra small bed if you have another (small) person. The cabin has screens all around plus a net if you worry about mosquitos. Don`t forget mosquito repellent... however we did not get bitten once during our stay. The service is good, they fixed our water problem quit quickly. The treck was awesome and our guide did his best to point to all kind of creatures including the surprise finding at the end of `Big maman` an enormous tapir who raised her hear to greet us.
Don`t forget to bring a flashlight and walk at sunset toward the luxurious hotel tucked at the end of the bay. You will go over a small suspention bridge and hear an amazing cacophony of frog and other noctunal creatures and you may get lucky and spot some too.
We ate supper at a local pizza joint. The pizza all done by hand in front of you was very tasty. If you want a glass of wine you can buy it cold from another strore they will let you have it there.
The bad: we could not believe coming all the way to Drake Bay to experience the amazing costa rica nature that the locals would let the soda/bar play their boom-boom music all the we hours in the morning. That ruined it for us.

We just completed a wonderful 5-day trip to Drake Bay and were completely captivated and delighted. This is a long review, but the last paragraph summarizes everything.

First the background as we learned it. Luis Emilio, a third generation native of the Drake Bay area, runs the facility with his family. He worked at a swanky high-dollar resort previously and brought the values of attentive customer service to his own business. His father has been a ranger at the Corcovado National Park for decades and his brother is an informative and interesting naturalist guide. With their combined experiences and skills they provide virtually every service a visitor seeks. We were enamored by their enthusiasm and helpfulness.

The facility sits halfway between the town of Drake and the beach, with only a 2 minute walk to the beach. It consists of tents on platforms, a cabin (or bungalow), and rooms in the main building. The tents and bungalow are located on a hillside above the main building, a short climb away, and have a commanding view of the entire bay. We stayed in the bungalow, a clean and simple building with a queen bed and a single bed, chairs and a private bathroom with hot shower. The beds are draped with mosquito nets for bug-free night time comfort. The front deck is outfitted with a hammock so one can relax and swing while watching the waves, the beach, the sunset colors and the multitudes of birds. The bed was comfortable, important as many Costa Rican beds can be stone hard.

The main building is the site of the common area where meals are served. Fresh fruit juice, coffee and tea is available all the time plus guests can store chilled items in the refrigator. Free wifi is present. Next to a table full of informative books on flora, fauna and excursions is a large bottled water dispenser--be sure to bring a personal water bottle to fill as the local tap water is not always potable. Swinging chairs are comfortable spots to sit and peruse the books. Often there is a spotting scope positioned on the lawn, so one can view passing wildlife close up.

A full breakfast is included with the stay. With a request and reservation, dinner is available and highly recommended. For a reasonable cost of about US e2410 per person, Emilio provides a delicious 3-course meal of salad, entree, vegetables, beans, rice, dessert and wine. I was afraid that had our stay been longer I would get quite fat--the food is very tasty.

Since the family members are natives of the area, they have a wealth of knowledge and can answer any question, arrange tours and activities and provide information on history, flora, fauna, local travel, their family farm and events in town.

In summary, Vista Drake is a comfortable hub from which to explore the Osa Peninsula (or simply relax), managed by friendly, helpful and attentive hosts who provide scrumptious food.

I have nothing but positive things to say about Vista Drake. The facilities are great, the views are amazing, but above all Luis Emilio is an incredible host. He will welcome you with open arms and make sure that you have a great time in la osa. There is no other place I would want to stay in Bahia Drake.

This place made us stay 7 days longer at Drake Bay. Spacious eco-lodge with a fantastic view. Owned by two very friendly and hospitable tico-brothers who grew up at Drake. They like to tell you everything about it's history, plants, trees, animals, etc. If you're looking for an inside tico-experience, relaxing view, nice food, and a relatively good price... then this the best base around to explore the rest of the wild peninsula!

We stayed there a couple of days in one tent and a wooden little house ( there were six of us!)
From the hammock in front of your door you enjoy a wonderful view over the whole bay. Emilio, the owner said sometimes you could spot whales directly from your hammock. We didn't see any, but nevertheless it was a nice place, One night there was a thunderstorm and we got all wet, but the owners came immediately, dried and ceaned everything and nailed wood on the windows to keep the wind out. It was ana amazing experience! Also you could sit on the toilet, yes, and watch hummingbirds. So if you love nature that's the place for you. If you get scared seeing a little bug, then it's not for you. We also took a one day trip with Emilio which was absolutely OK. we saw all we wanted to see and even more. I recommend it.
