After looking for a nice restaurant in Montezuma and reading the reviews of this place we thought it sounded great and were excited to give it a try. It was a nice short little walk up the hill out of town. Everything was great to begin with - had a nice cute little table right by the beach. That is, up until the service began. We waited quite a bit to be given our menu, which was read to us since the menu is in spanish. A little confusing but still we thought it was pretty unique and cool. Then we waited quite a bit of time more to get our glasses of wine. We weren't too upset about it since we knew that a lot of the places in Montezuma were relatively slow. But, that being said, there were about 6 girls working and only 4 small tables. The ratio didn't add up. So, then we waited even longer to get our tuna belly appetizer and when it finally arrived we were thoroughly disappointed. First and foremost, we've had tuna belly before, it is the best most delicious part of the tuna - tastes like butter, is smooth and delicious. This was nothing of the sort. It tasted fishy, and the whole dish was completely bland. It was one of the most disappointing dishes of food I had ever tasted. This, in combination with the super lackluster service and expensive price, made us reconsider our decision of coming here for dinner. Add that to the fact that we had the most delicious meal ever at the little place down the road (Puggo's) we decided it might be in our best interest to leave the meal at that. We had only started off ordering this appetizer and were going to order more as we went, but once we were done the "tuna belly" we sat there for about 20 minutes with two empty glasses of wine and an empty plate, waiting patiently (then not so patiently) for a tiny bit of attention from the plethora of unoccupied waitstaff. We even saw them dancing in the kitchen, while their customers waited for them outside. The waitresses even walked by our table several times and didn't even look over. It was absolutely absurd. As soon as they finally came over to us we got our check and hightailed it out of there, down the road to Puggo's to finish the rest of our meal (which was excellent). Oh and did I mention that I had quite an awful stomach ache after eating that tuna, which was the icing on the cake for our evening at Playa de los Artistos. We were in Costa Rica & Panama traveling around for a total of 5 weeks and this was our worst meal on the entire trip, by a landslide. If that doesn't say a lot, I don't know what does. Absolutely horrible all around!
