“Private jungle retreat; wonderful experience with”
Reviewed April 13, 2016 for a stay in April 2016

Casa Macaw is a beautiful home tucked up (way up!) and away from the bustle of the Manuel Antonio area. We chose it for the privacy and opportunities to see wildlife and were not disappointed. Sloths, monkeys, beautiful birds, bats and more. It was very quiet (people-wise) except for one night when a neighboring house had a party. But it was a full jungle experience and we were awakened each morning to the sounds of of birds, insects, howler monkeys, frogs, etc. Loved it. Dorit was great in facilitating our stay and Elias was incredibly helpful and provided great advice.
While we were happy with many aspects of the house itself (a/c works great, roomy kitchen, 2 1/2 baths, two nice decks, reliable WiFi), there are a few things that I feel should be shared with potential renters:
1) The drive up to the house is kind of crazy. Steep angles, sharp turns, and a very tricky parking spot. My husband got the hang of it quickly but a less confident driver might have trouble.
2) Kitchen lacking some useful items. (We cooked every meal so we noticed!) Not enough cups and mugs or serving bowls. Pots/pans in pretty bad shape.
3) Showers very weak, with water that unpredictably changes from very hot to very cold and back. But maybe that's normal for the area, haven't been before.
4) We understood that we were in the jungle and expected to deal with some insects. However we did not expect the explosion of termites that greeted us upon returning home the second evening. Apparently a worker had cleaned the roof and disturbed a nest (we were told this had happened before). There were thousands of them in the bedroom, including all over and in our bed! Elias was wonderful at helping us clean up and calm down. Again, we know that these things can happen in the jungle. However we were disappointed that there was no response or apology from the owner. It was really upsetting, especially to our kids. So much Raid was sprayed and that can't be good to inhale. Not a pleasant night, especially with residual termites crawling around as we tried to go to sleep (after changing the bedding!).

“Casa Macaw - Excellent”

We rented the Casa Macaw at Manuel Antonio Estates during our recent vacation to Costa Rica. It's an excellent property, well furnished, good location, good decks, good views, good security, good staff. We heard Howler monkeys at daybreak, we saw squirrel monkeys, toucans, and macaws from our decks. Quepos has an abundance of good restaurants, we favored the sodas. The Manuel Antonio staff arranged our trip to Manuel Antonio Park. Our tour included transportation to and from the property.

Absolutely wonderful! For anyone wanting to travel to Quepos, this is the place to stay. Close proximity to everything but most importantly, a wonderful and friendly staff. I cannot say enough wonderful things about Elias and Dorit. We are planning to visit next year and we plan to stay at Manuel Antonio Estates.

Rested in villa Maccaw, a wonderful place in a beautiful forest. Excellent spacious house with everything you need for your stay. The house looks like new, perfectly clean and all the equipment works. Shops and the entire urban infrastructure nearby. We recommend to stay if you want to live in a beautiful and quiet house with comfort. Fast and quality service.

Our stay here was amazing. From the animals, to the foliage, to the views, to the Spa...it was a week of a lifetime. Let me start with the animals. We were visited on our patio by a troupe of spider monkeys. There were well over a dozen and they were curious and playful for us. They did not come everyday but we saw monkeys from our patio at least 4 times during the course of the week. We also had daily visits from Macaws and also Toucans who stole a banana off of our table (our fault). The nighttime was so full of noises and creatures in the trees. Amazing. Our alarm clock was a little woodpecker who came to the window just after sunrise every morning.
Manuel Antonio Estates is well appointed. The homes are beautiful to look at and there is plenty of walking trails around the property. We walked into the town daily and it is an easy walk (though uphill on the way back is not super fun in the heat of the day). The area has lots to do and exploring the small beaches became our daily habit. The weekly market (Friday night) in downtown Quepos is not to miss. Lots of good food and produce.
The Spa on the premise was also a highlight for me. The services were exceptionally reasonably priced and the masseuse was amazing. It all took place in a beautiful setting with a wall opened to nature so I could watch the wildlife as I took in my services. A fantastic way to take in the occasional rainy day. Reservations were fairly easy to come by.
I would be remiss if I did not mention my husbands favourite place to eat; El Wagon. We have now been there 4 times and have loved it each time. It is on the right just before you hit Manual Antonio and they serve the best thin crust pizza in Costa Rica. I know we will be back there again someday.
The suite itself was great. The bedrooms were spacious and the ensuite had awesome showers. The kitchen was fully stocked. It had everything including a crockpot (in which we made chicken fajitas). It even had spices. Very impressed.
All in all there was very little to complain about. The pool was a bit too chilly but our fault that we never told anyone cause for all we knew they could have turned it up. But it was private so no one was there to make fun of us chartering while in the tropics. The parking was a little bit treacherous and it is definitely a spot for a small but powerful vehicle.
Everyone we met were wonderful and helpful: the property manager, the daily maid service and the workers on the grounds.
It was a fantastic place to stay and comes highly recommended.

“Beautiful Veiws and Spectacular Place!”
Reviewed March 6, 2015 for a stay in March 2015

A friend and I stayed here for about a week. We were staying in another house on this property but that house wasn't available for the entire time we were going to be here. So we moved here after about 2 weeks at the other place. The move was super easy....the staff helped us move our stuff and made sure we were settled and happy! We loved the other place (Cascada), but think we like this place even more! The views are amazing and the huge patio was extra nice and access to the private spool was a bit better that the other place.
The staff here is amazing!! Elias (concierge) checks on us every day (sometimes twice) to make sure we have everything we need and Dorit is so sweet and helpful!! We had some very minor issues in the house (light bulb, water dripping) and Papillo (the handyman) was on it in minutes of letting him know - he is simply amazing!
I would highly recommend this place!!!!
