Amazing place to stay in manuel antonio. Of course, the hostel is a bit far from the beach and we have to take the bus to get there, but what we have incredible views back! The staff was very friendly. There is even a small market to buy our fruit behind. One evening we saw a baby sloth wow! The only small comment least positive in each cabin is located three bedroom four people. so there is a bathroom for 12 people ... But it goes! When you get along with your roommates: P

I've stayed in hostels all over Costa Rica, and Vista Serena is by far the cleanest, coolest one I've been to. In a lot of cases you get what you pay for, but the view alone at this place is worth the money.

I originally booked a bed in the large dorm, but they put me in the smaller 4 bed dorm for the same price. They give you clean sheets and towels, the beds have pillows, and the dorm has its own kitchen and seating area apart from the main kitchen. The wifi even reached out to the rooms.

Usually when I stay in a hostel I am ready to leave by the end of my stay... to sleep in my own bed and shower in my own shower, but Vista Serena was definitely not that way. I will definitely be coming back!

We stumbled on Loma Linda (Vista Serena) by accident after spending 4 nights at over priced hostels and villas. We met the owner, Sonia, upon checking in and she was amazing. We had called a few hrs in advance to book the downstairs suite at Loma Linda and it turned out the previous occupants hadn`t checked out yet so she offered us the upstairs suite at the same price for the inconvenience. She also drove us to the house so we wouldn`t have to take the bus and spend more money. The house is BEAUTIFUL and fully equiped with everything (and more). Big glass windows with a good breeze, high raised ceilings, lots of ceiling fans and good lighting, modern and beautiful furniture, magazines, books (a mini library), stereo and cd`s, some dvds and a tv ofcourse...a little balcony, all linens provided and a spacious kitchen and dining table. The kitchen is also equipped with modern appliances and all the kitchen and cookware you can imagine. Cooking basics are also included such as butter or margarine, spices, coffee, sugar, milk and more. Staff is very friendly! Vista Serena hostel also seems llike a cool place to stay! Although I didnt see the rooms the common area and restaurant look like a pretty cool hang out with very reasonable budget meals and an UNREAL view!! It is on the main road so easy access to buses but a little bit of a walk to the beach. The bus price is just over .50 per trip (285 colones) and takes about 5 minutes. I`d recommend this for sure! So much so that I have now extended my vacation just to get a taste of what I have missed out on my previous 4 days of stay here!!

Room Tip: ask for private room in Loma Linda (Vista Serena)

Starting with Conrad and Leah going out of their way to make us feel comfortable and included as part of their hostel community, we loved our entire stay.

Stayed at Loma Linda, basically sharing an entire first floor of a house with a great bathroom, living room, kitchen, hammocks, and a lovely cool ocean breeze.

Loma Linda was wonderful, our Xmas day catamaran tour organized by Leah was wonderful, and every night on Vista Serena's patio there is a stunning sunset. Add in that the food in the little comedor in the hostel is reasonably priced and delicious, the atmosphere in the common areas of the hostel is fantastic for meeting people, and it's a great location on the way to Manuel Antonio but close to lots of restaurants, ATMs, and a supermarket, among other amenities. And also, they have a ton of information about things to do in the area, but also in lots of other places in Costa Rica too. Can't recommend this place enough.

I just LOVED this place. I ended up staying 2 more nights than expected, just to enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of the hostel and the stunning view on the Pacific Ocean. The place is real clean, very intimate with private houses, some with small rooms with bunk-beds, each with a common kitchen/dining room and a balcony with a wonderful view surrounded by jungle and animals. The common area is real nice, to chill-out in a hammock with a book or just mix-up with other travellers. Plus, very small price for a peace oasis.

Nice owners, always eager to help. The hostel also has a realy nice terras with fantastic views. After traveling around for 3 weeks, we conclude that the rooms are a bit expensive compared to other hostels in CR.

We came to Manuel Antonio completely by chance and decided upon staying in Vista Serena as a last minute choice and didn't regret it!
The place has almost everything a backpacker look for: small but comfy dorms (4 beds) with fan (we didn't take the air con option but it exists), intact screens on windows, good beds and a fully equipped shared kitchen per group of 3 dorms. But what makes the place lovely is the view from the terrace! Indeed is the place located on top of a hill dominating the bay and facing west therefore showing a wonderful sunset everyday with a beer in hand!
Another big communal area exist in the main building a few meters away from the dorms and has another big kitchen, a TV room with DVD, a giant terrace and a reception desk with very nice and helpful staff.
No wonder why we ended up staying longer than planned!
