“Nice place to stay”
Reviewed May 26, 2012

Great view, relaxed atmosphere, all-in-all a great place to stay a while. My girlfriend and I stayed in a two-double room unit with a shared kitchen and living space. It was alright but a little awkward, though that may have been because of the couple we were sharing with. The only thing I didn't like about the room was the lack of AC, and of everywhere we went in Costa Rica, it was most needed here! So hot and humid. But the rooms come with a big fan which did make things bearable.

Room Tip: I think the dorms with AC might have been a better call than the shared double room, but it's ha...

This is a fun youthful hostel with a pretty great ocean view. Conrad --the owner--was outstanding host. He gave great suggestions of things to do/places to visit during our stay there. The rooms are clean, staff were very friendly, and the hostel has a little cafe where you can get really good food for very cheap. I would definitely go back...

I stayed here on 2 occasions while I was travelling through Central America. This place has a fun atmosphere, clean rooms, and an amazing view. And the little restaurant they have is really great for both breakfast and dinner. Conrad and his mom really run a top-notch hostel.

We had read reviews and how right they were. Wonderful hostel with matching atmosphere.
We stayed in the 14bed dorm and I have to admit that I had the best nights sleep in 6.5mths traveling. We had different people float in and out as they do in dorms but the vibe from everyone was totally relaxed and respectful. Sometimes lost in other dorm rooms.
Morning coffee over looking the view is something that now back at work I think back with fond memories.
Only down side was the dorm had 1joint bathroom and shower in the room so always a queue in the mornings. There was 1 extra outside with no lock on either toilet or shower room. Was never a problem as there was no hooks inside shower room so had to leave all your bits outside so people could see it was in use but still was basic things that could have been made better.I did mention to owner who said he would sort it.
This is only a tiny blip in a wonderful stay though.
Highly recommend.

I've stayed here twice, once in 2008 and once this year and my group loved it both times. The owners are friendly and helpful, the food is good, and nothing watching the sun set over the Pacific from a cozy hammock. My main recommendation would be to pay the couple bucks extra for a smaller room, which are often air conditioned, instead of the giant (and not so nice) dorm room.

Room Tip: Pay the extra for a four person or private room - it's well worth it

I stayed at Vista Serena for a week and a half and didn't want to leave. It's such a great place to just relax and unwind, meet some new people and watch the sun go down. It's very friendly and open with a great communal area that encourages interaction. The restaurant has delicious food. I stayed in the 14 bed dorm and was impressed at how well I could sleep there. Fans were running all night to keep it cool and blocked out the noise of the other people when they came in. Beds were comfy. It was cleaned daily. Bathrooms weren't great, and the kitchen was a bit small for the size of the hostel, but definitely workable. I really liked the people who worked there as well. I'd definitely recommend this place.

Room Tip: If you want a 4 bed dorm, as for one of the new ones (as of the time of this review) as they are a b...
