room swarming with ants resulted in raid attack to no avail; management blamed it on food left out (in a unit with a kitchen), but didnt explain ants in bathroom

only dining area was outside, but stench of sewage made that area unusable

Of greatest concern was manipulation of currency exchange. Credit card was billed on date of reservation (six weeks prior to visit), using an exchange rate that was higher than existed on that day. With the dollar falling over 10% in the intervening six weeks, actual charge was more than 10% higher than it should have been.

When asked about it, they said they would recalculate and credit my card. Still waiting for that to happen....

The falling value of the dollar affects tourists as well as hoteliers, and there is no excuse for taking advantage of foreign tourists in this way. If rates are quoted in dollars, they should be charged in dollars, not using an inflated and dishonest exchange rate

This is the tale of two hotels. The rooms facing the pool above grade look bright and pleasant. These must be the ones getting good reviews. But, like the another negative reviewer, we had the misfortune of booking garden view junior villa #3. It's around back, a walk-out basement essentially. And it was musty, moldy, dreary and dingy. Plus we were greeted by a large roach in the bathroom.

We decided immediately to bail on Villas Mymosa, the first time ever in my travels that I've refused to stay in a hotel.

To his credit, the owner granted a refund, albeit a bit grudgingly, saying he'd never had a complaint about the room. Well, there was a barely working A/C unit, a dehumidifier with a full tank, and another "air ionizer" appliance all in that one unit. I don't think one installs all that in a room that if all's well.

This is a great little place with a friendly staff. We spent 10-days at the Villas Mymosa and the staff was always accomodating and pleasant. The food was top notch and the rooms are well maintained and clean. When we go back to CR, we will definitely visit the Villas Mymosa again.

Stayed here with our two families in the medium and large sized villas. We were happy with the size of the rooms and the pool, however we found at breakfast time that the "free" breakfast was actually going to cost us because we had too many children apparently (we have 3, my sister's family has 4). This made us feel extremely unwelcome and somewhat cheated. Owner was weird to us, though the rest of the staff was very kind and helpful. Also, the location is kind of far from the beach. Yes, you can take the bus, but you can't walk to any restaurants easily from there. I'd recommend staying somewhere else if you have small children.

I have stayed at Villas Mymosa numerous times over the last decade and it is always the highlight of my trip to the Pacific region of Costa Rica. The condominiums are always spotlessly clean, well-provisioned, and more comfortable than home. The swimming pool is the perfect antidote to long hours at the beach. The poolside restuarant, bossed by a world-class chef, is to die for and guests can tell him what they would like to have that evening and he will buy it fresh that day and prepare it just for you that night. A short walk down the small hill and guests can hop the public bus to the beach, to Manual Antonio National Park, or the fine little town of Quepos. No car is necessary! I absolutely promise you that you will not want to leave...ever!
