This lovely small hotel is perched on the edge of a cliff overlooking a gorgeous bay, cliffs, and a sunset vista. We treated ourselves to a night there for our last night of our honeymoon, and we are so glad we did. We stayed in the penthouse suite, Room 101, with a private oceanfront balcony. We were greeted at checkin with cool towels and a welcome drink. We loved our happy hour and dinner at sunset, with excellent service and attention to detail. The seafood fettuccine was superb. We spent the last morning of our honeymoon on the hidden beach just a few minutes away. The whole experience was one of the most memorable of our honeymoon, especially waking up to the incredible view.

A couple things to note though ... The room we were in didn’t have a private bathroom, just a saloon door for the toilet. We didn’t mind, but it’s something to keep in mind if that doesn’t suit you. Also, there were stairs up to the room and down to the pool, so if mobility is an issue that would be challenging. And the windows in the room were coated in a UV film that made them reflective mirrors at night, which was a bit odd and made it impossible to see out at night, except from the balcony.

Overall, a world class boutique hotel with unbelievable views and top notch service. Randy, our waiter, was especially attentive during our dinner, and he gave us lots of travel tips and took great sunset pictures for us. We loved our stay!

Upon arrival at Issimo Suites Boutique Hotel & Spa (adults only) we were greeted with a complimentary cocktail and two cool moist cloths to tamper down the heat and humidity. The staff was absolutely lovely and from that point on they catered to our every need. From the bellhop to the chef, we were treated like royalty.
We stayed in the Penthouse Suite. Other than multiple stairs, it was absolutely splendid. Real hibiscus petals covered everything -- such a charming touch. Two walls were floor to ceiling views of the Pacific. A two-person jacuzzi graced one corner. The facilities with bidet were in a private closet. There was an opoulent and very roomy shower. And the king-size bed -- Heaven! Bathrobs and a fullstocked minibar were at our disposal. Overall, the room was large and incredibly comfortable. It made us feel glamourous.
We ate dinner at the hotel's restaurant that night. Our waiter, Oskar, was knowlegeable, gracious and provided excellent suggestions for wine pairings. My husband had rack of lamb prepared to perfection. I ordered grilled langostino that literally melted in my mouth. After dinner I was provided a finger bowl with hot water. Desert followed -- unsurpassed creme brulee and cognac with coffee. Oskar presented two complimentary after dinner drinks.
The pool area overlooks the Pacific and is surrounded by a spacious deck. On one side there is a "hidden" long "coach" with overstuffed pillows and curtains. This is where we staked out our territory as it is more privated than the deck.
Breakfast is complimenmtary and it is delicious. A combination of the typical Tico breakfast with German influence. You simply can't pass it up.
As we were packing, White-faced monkeys worked their way up the balconies until finally reaching our top floor. They were so close we could reach out and touch them (of course we didn't). But they weren't interested in us, they were looking for food. Not having any, they quickly moved on.
We did not want to say good-bye. The staff treated us like family as we left. We certainly plan to return in the future.
