“Stay patient and the monkeys will come!!!”
Reviewed April 15, 2014 via mobile

I have been here in Costa Rica for a few months now and Manuel Antonio will have to be one of my favorite places so far. I recommend leaving this park as a day tour. Take your time to enjoy the wild life as you will see much more that way. Take a guided tour if you want to see things like birds, bugs and plants and get the information about them. I did not go with a tour, but we saw dozens of monkeys (even baby ones), a few sloths and raccoons. They like to come out in the early morning and late afternoon. The also like to hang out in quiet places so keep your voices low and step lightly. Some may even come out on the beach and steal your things. The park has two different beaches inside; one with waves and the other without. Both have soft, tan sand and just breathtaking. It also has a little hike to various points were you can look out over the ocean. Unfortunately, most of the trails are closed (even the one to the waterfall) until some time next year. Yet, there is still plenty to see!!!
Bring: camera, binoculars, swimsuit, towel, water bottle, food, toilet paper(not always available) shoes and sandals.

“Take this Tour with Roy Orozco Nature Specialist”
Reviewed April 15, 2014

If you take this walk on your own or with a poor quality guide you will not appreciate all that is Manual Antonio. It is a park, a preserve, a Costa Rican treasure, and a playground for wildlife. Roy will open your eyes. You will be excited to see the sloths, the white faced monkeys, the agoutis, and the raccoons. You won't want to miss the many species of bats, insects, and birds. Roy will explain the balance of epiphytes with the other inhabitants of the tropical jungle. At the end of your nature walk, you will come upon one of the most beautiful beaches in the world and have a swim. Hopefully the abundant white faced monkeys and raccoons on the beach won't steal your stuff! It is a great time and a great experience. Be sure to go in the morning when the animals are more active, and it isn't quite so hot.

“Love the park”
Reviewed April 15, 2014

Have been to the park twice now and it is a great way to see lots of monkeys and sloths! I would recommend just paying the $10 fee to enter the park and skip the guide altogether. There are so many groups with guides you can usually figure out what everyone is pointing at! If you really want to see animals up close the guides are good to have because they have binoculars you can look through. The beach inside the park is also very beautiful!

“Beautiful”
Reviewed April 15, 2014

Love the beautiful beaches, the water is clear and warm!!! Love the monkeys...so cute. We did not use a guide. We walked through the trail and took our time. Lots of beauty in this area.
It was pretty easy to spot animals. Someone is always eager to point out what everyone is looking at!
