It was one of my favorite day trip in Costa Rica. The park is great. Lots of opportunities to observe wildlife. We got ropped into getting a guide with another family when we arrived. They charged us $70 for two of us, including park entry. It was a bit of rip-off. Our guide was nice, but he didn't know as much as other guides. Plus if you are a little adventurous, I would just recommend going on your own, and just observing the tour guides as they show wildlife to the people that paid them. Key is to open your eyes and listen to the nature sounds to spot monkeys, frogs, etc...
The beaches are great, water was very warm too. Just watch out for racoons as they will try to get into your bags...

It was very nice, we saw white faced monkeys, two sloths and squirrel monkeys. The beach was very relaxing, enjoyed swimming and hiking though the park.

The coastline within the park is beautiful. There's a plethora of animals around and the beaches are quite beautiful as well. Almost idyllic.

But this is definitely a busy park. We visited in the low "green" season and it felt like there was a lot of people everywhere. Solitude may be found by exploring further down some of the trails, but they were closed when we visited. Still, a must see if you're in the area.

My partner and I visted the Quepos area in early November 2012 and were lucky to have Roy Orozco as our tour guide. It was amazing how he could spot so much wild life from a great distance. Had I hiked alone I would have seen nothing. Not only that, but he is a great artist. Roy comes highly recommended if you're looking for a guided tour.

Absolutely beautiful pristine beaches. It's a short walk to them and the view on the way to them are great.
Just need to watch out for the raccoons. But we saw iguanas and so many beautiful birds.
Clean and gorgeous. Only bummer is no alcoholic beverages inside. But it's still worth it.
