Very nice white sand beach inside the national park. Very clean and uncrowded, we felt safe leaving our packs unattened while we strolled around.

We booked a guide through a travel agent and our group had one other couple from spain in it. The guide was very knowledgeable and spoke excellent english and spanish. I beleive we were able to see nearly every major animal except the tree frogs. The beach was perfect and the pace was very relaxed. The terrain was very easy with only one small hill. It is very nice to visit Costa Rica and be able to enjoy these parks without anyone trying to sell you souvenier and stuff. In this regard I beleive that they have a better handle on that than in the states. You can tour the park without a guide but we felt that we were able to see and enjoy more sites with one.

If you ever watched the movie "the beach" this place will remind you of it. It's super clean and teh water is clear and blue. Make sure you take all your food and drinks in with you, there is none available inside and don't forget to take all your trash back out. I've done a tour and loved it and I've walked it on my own and enjoyed that too. Take binoculars, sunscreen and plenty of water!

We took our 10 and 12 yr old kids there to see what it is all about. I would suggest getting there when the park opens. It is cooler and less crowded. We did three of the trails. There is no maps (at least while we were there), bur trails are marked fairly well. We saw sloths, deer, howler monkeys and lots of lizards. The main beach is beautiful. The breaking surf kept us from letting our kids swim. We saw one lady scraped up pretty bad from being knocked down and dragged over rocks. Also the tide came in really high unexpectedly, so watch your stuff. It is true about seeing animals from other people having a guide. Last thing about the beach - watch your items from the racoons. They stole my bathing suit that was in a ziplock (luckily they dropped it in the woods) . There will be a huge crowd which tells you something is nearby. There is a parking lot on the left right before the main entrance. Tickets are sold from a building by where you park (right up the street on tha same side).
