We drove from the San Jose airport and were warmly greeted by Dylan upon our arrival. The warm greetings continued as we sat at the pool bar sipping drinks after the long drive. Lush vegetation surrounded us and the artwork on the retaining walls in the pool area immediately drew us into a relaxed, tropical mood. We were with another couple and rented the Tree Top Canopy Combo which is at the highest point on the property. The view is magnificent, but it takes work to get there...the walk is up a very steep incline and it is long enough to wish it was shorter! If you take it in small steps and are fairly fit you'll make it, but if you're out of shape or don't like to be challenged we suggest you select another room on the property. That said...if we were to return we would choose the rooms again...they're worth the effort. One slight disappointment was that is wasn't clear (from the website) and we were not advised that the Tree Top Dome and two rooms immediately below could be rented separately - they were advertised as a "combo". We didn't need the third room. However, when compared to other options with similar amenities in the Quepos area, even three rooms for two couples was a great deal, so the disappointment was short lived. When we travel we hope to stay in lodging that is intimate and gives us a deeper feeling for the area and the people that live there. This was the case with our stay at Las Casadas. We chatted at length with Gary, Catalina and their sons Dallas and Dylan ...as if we were friends rather than guests. We left with warm goodbyes and very happy memories.

My husband and I are staying here now and we can’t begin to tell you how lucky we are to have found this place. It is rustic yet elegant and we are grateful for everything this hotel stands for.

We met Dylan who assisted us upon departure from a different hotel in Manuel Antonio. He is the epitome of what a guest relations/concierge/manager should be. He is always smiling and willing to help even so far as to help us search for the resident sloth.

Our room was unique with wonderful AC and an incredible view. Beds were super comfy. Everything was modern and we wished we had more time here our two nights will not be enough.

The food here is incredibly good. Breakfast this am was delivered to room and we are overlooking the jungle.

The pool is very refreshing and never seemed overcrowded. Twice my husband and I had it alone.

The room is a little hike but totally doable as we are in our 50s and I had knee surgery. Good exercise to eat these wonderful breakfasts. We are looking forward to dinner tonight. I hear the pizza is to awesome.

There are many tropical birds here as well as monkeys iguanas and sloths. This family goes above and beyond to make your stay enjoyable. I will miss their enthusiasm when I go home and we do plan on returning here to the new friends we’ve made.

The hotel is owned and operated by a small family. It seems they converted a set of condos into the hotel. Therefore, you can expect a kitchen, separate bedroom, etc. But you should not expect hotel-level amenities and service. There were some maintenance and finishing that could be managed better with a professional maintenance manager. The food at the restaurant is good. We were in a room next to the pool, which made it noisy at times. The hotel is also located at the top of a hill, which can be a steep climb for some. We chose to climb it sometimes and take a cab other times. The location, however, is close to the marina and city so it is easy to get groceries and meals. Overall, this is a value selection run by a well-intended family.

Well, we found this place on TripAdvisor, and it was amazing! Everything from the initial contact by phone with Dylan, to the farewell handshakes by him.
In the middle was an unbelievable staff, made up of mostly family. Gary and his wife Catalina designed a beautiful escape from your typical hotel. 16 unique suites/rooms perched on the mountain side, with some amazing views of the ocean or garden.
Dylan was kind enough to set up all of our tours ahead of time, and everyone was memorable.
Check in was a breeze, and they even hauled all of our luggage up to the penthouse suite. Then Francesca introduced us to the hotel and area, with a welcome cocktail.
Every morning Francesca was a bright ray of sunshine, super happy, and always a smile on her face. She served us breakfast on most mornings.
Dallas and Brandon were always on hand to help us with anything we needed. Whether it was a specialty cocktail by the pool, or directions to somewhere, or to call a cab.
Now to the wildlife on the grounds. We saw a toucan on our 2nd day, right off our balcony. Macaws were around daily. Gary even found a sloth for us, mid way through our 10 days, and we kept finding it in different places everyday after. Capuchins and squirrel monkeys. Lizards/Iguanas a plenty.
Resident dog "Coffee" was a sweet reminder of our own dog at home.
We ate breakfast here 6 times, lunch/dinner a few times, including New Years Eve, and were never disappointed.
Prices for food and drinks are very reasonable.
The pool is great to cool off in, and the waterfall is soothing late in the afternoon, just to sit and chill out.
There are a lot of steps for some of the rooms, so just ask prior to booking.
During our stay we stayed in the "penthouse" as well as the "nest". The penthouse is really really nice, and very spacious with a full kitchen, king size bed, a waterfall, and a living room. The nest was quaint, and adequate, charming, with great views still.
Booking direct with the hotel, would be great for them, as they can avoid the high rates paid to booking agents. I want others to be able to enjoy this place for a long time, and helping them out, would go a long way.
It is a short 6 minute walk to the marina, with a few great restaurants.
Also about a 10-15 minute walk to downtown Quepos, where you can find some great coffee shops or catch the bus to Manuel Antonio National Park. Only a 15 minute bus ride, and about 50 cents per person.
We would definitely stay here again, when back in Costa Rica.
Thanks Gary, Catalina, Dylan, Dallas, Brandon, and Francesca for an amazing 10 days in Quepos.

Doug and Meredith.

The family that built and runs the hotel is very special: really nice. And the property is gorgeous! It was ideal: an amazing breakfast included at a beautiful dining area by the pool surrounded by the steep hillside and jungle: very romantic, nicely private and isolated; yet right up from the marina. We stayed at one of the upper rooms with a very nice view; very private and special: only do not book one of these upper rooms if you have a medical condition!! Very steel hike up to them. The family took us in as one of them. Very highly recommended.
