“Great Location Great Staff”
Reviewed September 2, 2012 via mobile

We had a great stay here. Great prices, great room, great staff. There was a diverse group of people there, from families to quiet vacationers to college kids on the weekends, but it was overall great. Right next to Manuel Antonio park, but only a brief walk to downtown. Even saw monkeys on the hotel grounds.

Great location, friendly helpful staff, thoroughly enjoyable stay. My family of 4 stayed here in the surfer bungalow. Very clean upon arrival, small bathroom with shower, microwave, fridge, coffeemaker, hairdryer, t.v. and a/c. Just a short walk through the local marketplace to get to the beach, 5 min. walk. They also have free wi-fi and free phone use to u.s. in the lobby/breakfast area, which was very necessary for us since my daughter had to schedule her college classes at a particular time on our last morning there. They also have a selection of DVD's for free use by the guests. The staff also helped us with scheduling ziplining, and a spa day. We had numerous animal encounters in our 3 days here, neon green lizards, 6" grasshoppers, box turtle from the nearby creek, and did I mention the monkeys? Numerous monkeys in the afternoons out at the pool area!! Very cool. This little lodge has a wonderful garden/landscaping as well. The small pool and jacuzzi is very refreshing after a long, humid day in the nearby park. Highly recommend this lodge!

We enjoyed our stay at La Posada – it was a perfect location for our visit to Manuel Antonio. It’s just steps from the entrance to the National Park and a short walk through the local markets to the beach. The room was clean and very, very nice. After some more rustic accommodations, it was a treat to have A/C and a TV in our room. (We watched the Olympics!) The pool was small but refreshing when we were hot in the humid afternoon. The breakfast was good – eggs made to order along with breads, meat and fruit. We took advantage of the laundry service, which was one of the best deals of our trip -- $6 for a full basket washed and folded while we were enjoying our day! The manager on duty, Marco, arranged surf lessons for us one afternoon, which was fun but pretty hard for landlocked Kansans! 

Manuel Antonio Park was a nice visit with a great deal of wildlife easily seen. Many visitors had hired guides, which was probably a good idea, but we were only there for a short time and wanted to spend most of our time on the beach. The beach in the park (Manuel Antonio Beach) was a beautiful, clean beach in a cove (no big waves) with warm, clear water and nice white sand. Best beach ever! The beach near the hotel was fine for surfing and fun, but not as pretty and pristine.

My wife and I stayed at Hotel La Posada for four nights last week. The first three nights we stayed in the Parrot room with the king bed. For the final night we had to switch to the Surfer room with two queen beds. Both rooms were charming and clean.

The rooms were wonderful, but the real gem at La Posada is the property itself. The walkways that connect the rooms with the lobby/eating area are surrounded by dense vegetation, and because the hotel backs right into Manuel Antonio park you really feel like you're staying in the middle of the jungle. Being next to the park also means that guests at La Posada will likely be visited by park inhabitants. A family of squirrel monkeys visited three times during our stay. We also saw a variety of lizards, frogs and several white-tailed deer.

The staff at La Posada really went out of their way to make sure we enjoyed our stay. Esteven, Jonathan and Marco all were very helpful when we had questions about tours and the country itself.

We would definitely recommend La Posada to anyone wanting to stay in the Manuel Antonio area. We enjoyed our stay very much and were sad when we had to leave!

My husband and I stayed here for a quick getaway. We stayed in the Bungalow with the King Bed . Mike, the owner, helped us many times even before we got there via e-mail, making sure we would have everything we could possibly need. The room was so nice, the bed was more comfortable than the one we have at home and all of the staff were so friendly! We got a free buffet style breakfast every morning, had access to internet, free calls to the USA, and they also served a wonderful dinner nightly at a very reasonable price. We truly felt like family, it was so nice to be in a small private hotel, versus the larger resort style. The pool is crystal clear, the whole place is so clean and very well maintained. It was a short walk to the beach, all other restaurants and marketplaces for souvenirs. It was very, very safe, too. All of the tours we wanted to go on were booked through them, effortlessly. We did the Jungle Tour, (which is right next to the hotel), went ATV riding to the Rainmaker Forest, and then Zip lining. Our favorite was the Zip lining! We had a GREAT time, the guides were hilarious and friendly. The monkeys at the hotel came out daily in the afternoon for some great photo's. I cannot say enough about how great La Posada is! My only regret is that we only had 3 full days to enjoy it. Wish we could have stayed for 2 weeks! Everyone made us feel so welcome, and made sure we had a good time, with no hassles, no surprises with "extra charges". We LOVED IT!! THANK YOU MIKE AND ALL STAFF AT LA POSADA! WE WILL BE BACK!!! We miss you! I had such a sad feeling when we had to leave. Renay & Dave, Florida

My two kids (15/12) and I just returned from a 10 day trip to incredible Costa Rica, with 3 nights at La Posada in Manuel Antonio. Believe all the positive comments. This is a small, friendly and impeccably clean place to hang your hat while you are in the area. The location, literally steps from Manuel Antonio National Park and a short walk to the main public beach can't be beat. Esteben, Marco and the lovely Francine were all super friendly, helpful and had great recommendations for places to eat and things to do. If you hire a guide through them to go through the park, which I recommend, be sure to ask for Miguel, who was fantastic.

The pictures of the outstide of La Posada on this website don't really do it justice. The main picture for TripAdvisor makes it look like a parking lot. It's not. The side of the building faces the street, so there is no incredible facade on the front. Inside, however, it is quiet and serene and very safe and pretty. Rare squirrel monkeys from Manuel Antonio came to visit the property daily to amusement of everyone.

I thought the place was great. So did my kids. We met several families while we were there and everyone loved the place. For the price, which includes a daily breakfast, it is hard to imagine a better value anywhere.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Fisherman Bungalow, which was great and right across from the pool. Any of the bun...

We stayed in the bungalows and it was wonderful. We were within walking distance to everything, and just outside the entrance to the National Park. Mike and his staff made you feel welcomed and were always there to help you. I would recommend this place to anyone traveling to Manuel Antonio. It was well worth the trip to stay in such a wonderful place.
