“Wedding at the Montemar Estate”
Reviewed March 15, 2016 for a stay in February 2016

My husband and I rented the Montemar Estate for our wedding in February this year. We had about 30 of us stay on the property. It was the absolutely PERFECT layout for us. We rented out all 3 villas on the estate. Our parents who are older stayed in the 2 bedroom house, Anarkali. So it was close enough where we could walk to them and visit and check on them, but far enough away where any noise from us would not disturb them. And then we had our other guests stay at Casa Marbella and the main house, Casa Celaje. All of the houses are gorgeous and decorated beautifully. My husband and I stayed in the master bedroom at Casa Celaje, and it was a dream waking up to the gorgeous view every day. The pictures really don't do this place justice. The views are just amazing. You will just love the pool at Casa Celaje, it's overlooking all of Manual Antonio simply put, magnificent! Also, a highlight of the trip were the adorable monkeys that would come to the main house in the mornings. Super friendly where they would walk up and take the food from your hand while feeding them, priceless!!!!

One thing I want to emphasis is the amazing service that you will receive, not just during your stay, but once you book the estate!! Johan, the house concierge was FABULOUS!!! He helped us out with so many of the details that I don't even know what we would of done without him. He helped arrange shuttle transportation from SJC to Manual Antonio for all of our guests, he even picked up my Maid of Honor from the Quepos airport because she arrived by herself. He helped plan the group activities for the week with the tour groups, put signs on the doors of each room for the guests, called us taxis...basically helped in every possible way you could think of. Being the bride with all of your family and friends in one place, Johan was a tremendous stress reliever and definitely took a lot of organizing and arranging off my plate.

We also hired Chef Marlon, who is the chef for the Estate, to cater our reception. It was delicious and we were just thrilled with the quality and presentation of his food. Would highly recommend him. We also hired him to do a taco night on the last day of our stay, again, fabulous.

All of our guests had a wonderful time and loved the villas. Everything was perfect for us. We were so thrilled with how everything turned out and absolutely how perfect the whole week was for us. Truly our dream wedding and we could not have done it without the breathtaking ambiance the estate provided. As well as the exceptional staff and service we received from everyone, special mentions to Johan, Roberto, and Kathy. Thank you all so much for making our wedding a dream come true.

We WILL return, and I HIGHLY recommend this place if you want a superb experience.

PURA VIDA!!!

“Spacious, Magestic Villa in Manuel Antonio! Great for Large Groups”

The pictures DO NOT do this property justice. It is EXQUISITE. Let's start there. If you want to live like a king or queen for a week at a reasonable price, this would be it.
We invited 12 of our closest friends to join us in this villa to celebrate our union and quality time with one another. It did not disappoint. The views are majestic, the rooms and common areas decorated to the smallest detail. There are 3 master suites, 2 have their own Jacuzzi on the balcony. The remaining 4 have queen beds and then there is one room with a set of twins. All of our guest were very pleased with the accommodations. The A/C, water-pressure and cleanliness exceeded our expectations. The location is perfect to ride ATV's, lounge on the beach, go zip-lining or just relax at the pool.
Johan, the villa concierge is friendly and helpful. He was able to assist with everything from supplying groceries prior to our arrival, making dining and excursion reservations, floral arrangements for the wedding, in-house chef services, speakers to play playlists on Spotify, etc., a taxi and just assist with any detail to make our trip memorable. The sitting area faces the Oceanside, allowing us to enjoy a glass of wine as the sun set each evening. We awoke to the sound of toucans on the balconies and often saw monkeys walking the property. There is so much room throughout the villa that we did not feel like we were on top of one another.
My suggestion would be to dine at Barba Roja one evening. Rafael Terraza's was good, but more for the sunset, ceviche and Sangria. The remainder of the time, Marlon and his team prepared our meals. The presentation matched the flavor---PERFECTION! 2 words, coconut flan....We honestly tried to convince him and Johan to come back to Miami with us.
I would also suggest, purchasing a flight from San Jose to Quepos to bypass the addt'l. 2.5 hour trek to Manuel Antonio. It's around $70 and worth the time saving.

This was the most amazing place to stay in Costa Rica. The house staff was truly amazing and helpful! From the moment we arrived they were extremely accommodating. Our room was the Blue Ocean room and it truly was like the photos. It was simply paradise.

“Excellent accommodations”
Reviewed November 27, 2015 for a stay in November 2015

An excellent property in a secure and beautiful location outside of Manuel Antonio National Park. We strongly suggest you hire Reiner and Michael of WOW Chef Services to come to the place to prepare dinner on at least one evening. We also used Jeff of Escape Villas for booking and as our concierge. Absolutely wonderful and personal service. You can call him anytime during your trip and he will answer any questions you have- from how to tip to where to park to where to eat. This was a phenomenal place with phenomenal service.

“Wedding & Vacation with 30+ people! Absolutely Awesome!!!”
Reviewed November 21, 2015 for a stay in November 2015

We booked the entire Montemar Estate (all three villas) for a week stay with 30+ guests. We held our wedding on the pool patio of Villa Celaje and the setting was absolutely amazing. We selected this property because it was perched on top of one of the most prominent hills in the area with 360 degree views of both the ocean and the interior mountains. Our 30+ guest were able to comfortably mingle between the 3 homes located at the Montemar Estate, with Villa Celaje being the central location for meals and hanging with the group.

There are a lot of options for rentals in Manuel Antonio but you will be hard pressed to find a villa with nicer finishes than Villa Celaje. The house is very modern with luxury interior finishes.

We found our experience to be very consistent with all of the other positive reviews on Tripadvisor. The staff was all around exceptional from Johan, the concierge, Marlon the chef, and the entire cleaning staff. Everyone is very friendly and accommodating to every personality type in our large group. Johan can literally meet any of your needs as he helped us find a local doctor for one of our guest, he was available day and night for questions, he scheduled numerous excursions, arrival/departure transportation for 30+ people, and he provided excellent customer service.

We rented a 4x4 car as we planned to travel to the volcano and other areas of Costa Rica but if you do not have a car it is very easy to catch a cab for about $10 to just about any where in Quepos or Manuel Antonio. The drive way to Villa Celaje is very steep and with a 4 cylinder car you have to put the pedal to the floor to be sure you dont stall to a stop (especially with 3-4 people in the car). It was only about 8-10min to the beach from Villa Celaje and about the same to Quepos.

I would highly recommend this rental to friends and family because the quality of the home and its staff are 5 star quality.

“I'm coming back!”
Reviewed November 20, 2015 for a stay in November 2015

The property and its staff made my vacation (and the 30+ other people I was traveling with) one of the most memorable experiences I've ever had.

The property was beautiful and well located and a true retreat. It sits at the top of a hill which can be a little daunting to drive up, but well worth getting the 4x4.

The staff was the most helpful. The chef not only knows how to whip together some of the most delicious food but he also has some great recommendations off the property as well. The cleaning service was great, they even offer to send clothes out to be cleaned, truly helpful when there for a long time. And Johan the concierge is an all around people pleaser who was the most responsible, reliable, hard working, and just a general pleasure to be around. He made every decision easy and stressless. I might never travel with such ease again.

“Perfect 50th Anniversary family celebration”
Reviewed August 26, 2015 for a stay in August 2015

This vacation experience was beyond all of our dreams!!! It was a trip to celebrate our 50th Wedding Anniversary with all of our children and grandchildren; there were 19 of us. We arrived on Friday so we could all be together on Saturday morning to go up to the villas. We used Villa Celeja and Casa Anika for the week and had more than enough room. Johan, the concierge, arranged for a large van to bring us to the Villa all together. We could rent cars from there if we chose to. The van itself was a perfect start to this trip - excellent driver, beautiful vehicle. Along the way we stopped at the Alligator Bridge and had lunch. When we arrived at the villas they were beyond expectation - definitely more beautiful than the photos on the website. They are amazing!! The bedrooms are large, airy, beautiful views and so well appointed. The bathrooms are also amazing! The wonderful thing upon arrival was that the staff greeted us with huge smiles, helpful hands and any help needed to get settled. Johan could NOT have been more helpful, patient, thoughtful - he is an amazing young man!! He is there to help with anything you need - tours, taxis, questions, fixing something, etc.; yet he gives you complete privacy!! Everything he arranged for us was exactly on time, exactly what we needed and all with a smile - AND, with 19 people, plans changed sometimes. Yet, he accommodated everything so graciously. The tours he arranged for us could not have been better - ESPECIALLY the El Santuario Canopy Adventure Tour!! This trip we decided to have Chef Services. Johan arranged for MARLON to be our Chef - WOW!! Fantastic Decision!! A wonderful surprise for us was that when we arrived they had the table set for all 19 of us to sit together. Our family lives in 6 different states so what a gift that was. They did all the shopping, cooking and clearing after dinner. What a treat!!! Savier, Michael, Rambo, Roberto (his staff). They are excellent!! You hardly know they are there and, viola, this picture perfect meal appears on the table. They "stood on their heads" to accommodate picky kid eaters also. We had "happy hours" before dinner each night on the deck with fresh chips, guacamole, salsa, etc. and the kids had plenty of space to just hang out and still be all together. You can choose your breakfast and dinner for the next day after dinner each evening. The frosting on this wonderful trip was Tatiana. She would come every morning but you hardly ever saw her; yet, the home was spotless and your rooms were beautiful with fresh room towels and pool towels you arrived back home. Just like magic :=)). She also is a charming young woman who is a credit to these villas!!
If it seems like we enjoyed this Costa Rican adventure then you are correct. We couldn't recommend it more highly!!! THANK YOU!!!!
