We had the fish tacos and they were delicious. Good and crispy. The tortillas were the perfect size and tasty. I loved that it's all homemade too! It's a great place for a tasty lunch.

El Gato Pescador has been sensational each of the 3 times we've visited. The quality is just amazing - awesome fish, awesome batter, yummy yummy hand cut chips and onion rings. Coming from Australia, fish 'n chips was one of the things we missed being in Costa Rica... not any more! Thanks so much for another great experience and keeping the kids happy too. You guys rock.

The fun cheery minimalistic interior drew me in but the food is what stole the show. This gem in Manuel Antonio has a simple menu, a simple fun interior, and it appears, an equally simple philosophy to the food that they make, "Do it fresh, in-house, and do it well". Everything is done in a traditional beer batter (except for the fish that makes it into their ceviche) that is either put into fresh corn tortillas for tacos, served alone as a filet or made into fish balls. Shrimp are on the menu too and without a doubt I will be back to give them a try. Once that choice is made you then select from either traditional "chips", hand-cut onion rings or fried sweet potato. There may have been more options on the menu but they had me at hand-cut onion rings! In the world we live in it's very difficult to get a good onion ring these days and these were superb. I didn't try two of their sauces, the tartar or cocktail sauce, but I had a mind-blowingly good homemade chipotle sauce that was amazing.

All-in-all a fantastic place that I highly recommend. Although everything on the menu is fried, this is a fish and chips restaurant people, nothing was heavy or greasy and everything was seasoned perfectly (not under salted and not too salty). The prices were very reasonable and the owner, who was there, was very hands-on and friendly and genuinely interested in your experience. He was also upfront with the fact that he could not take credit for the wonderful chipotle sauce because it was his wife's recipe. So if your into trying out an elevated form of Fish and Chips at a very reasonable price give this place a try. Like I said everything is just done well. Very well!
