“Amazing views, great staff!”
Reviewed April 20, 2014

My boyfriend and I checked into Villa Nicolas 3/30/14. This was a birthday trip for him so I had emailed the staff before arriving asking for a room with a great view...they went above and beyond to help and responded very quickly through email regarding my request.
Our actual room was tiny but since we weren't planning on spending much time in there it was perfect. The patio was to die for...very very large and had a hammock, patio furniture, ceiling fan and lighting. The patio was also very private being that it was wooden blinds to block out any other views from the rooms to the sides of you. The hotel also had a pool which was great to take a dip in after a day at the beach, we were the only ones in the pool area so it was very quiet and relaxing.
The actual hotel was situated between great restaurants and close to the local bus stop. The bus was less than $1 to take down to the beach.
We had dinner at the restaurant located in Villa Nicolas. The bartender, Laura, made me the BEST coconut margaritas I've ever had...the chef prepared delicious and our sever was very very friendly.
:)

Great hotel and restaurant...MUST see if you're staying in Manuel Antonio!!!

Room Tip: We requested a room away from the street and with a great view. We were given 8 up and had terrific...

We have stayed at the Villas Nicholas two different stays. Each time was over the top amazing. The food (my favorite the pork tenderloin) was exceptional, the staff was very attentive, and the pool and grounds are kept in tip top shape. We loved sitting out on our private lanai listing to the birds and watching the monkeys in the trees. We will definitely be returning.

After an unsuccessful deep sea fishing trip, we were sunburnt, tired and overall grumpy. We decided to treat ourselves and luckily stumbled upon Villas Nicolas. This place was great. The room was immaculate, and was nicely furnished. There was even a porch area with a hammock that some white face monkeys visited.
The villa we were in was surrounded by green, and in the distance you had the ocean that you could clearly see the sunset as well. Awesome experience, and if I am ever back in CR, I would do it again.

We had a great stay at Villas Nicolas. The view are great and the rooms nicely decorated. Monkeys were running on our terrace and around the beautiful pool area.

Unfortunately, the breakfast was a bit poor. Only gallo pinto (eggs and rice) and some fruits. There was no orange juice or anything else than coffee. We would have wished some more variety with toast, marmalade...

We stayed in cabin 8 lower , it was nicely appointed . Large sitting area and separate sleeping quarters with a queen and single bed.

Kitchen had everything you need if you did want to cook . Best of all is the large balcony. Also with this unit you do not have to climb any stairs.

Breakfast was included , it's ok , no variety , it would be nice if they offered orange juice no don't. You do get a nice fruit plate but eggs are either scrambled or easy over with a side of rice and 2 tiny pieces of toast, no other option.

They have a beautiful pool area, it is sad that it is so noisy their because of the busy road, all you hear is truck s and motorcycles racing by.
Overall, I was very happy with our stay here, and that you get a large suite for a very reasonable price. It is centrally located to a lot of good restaurants that you can walk to, we did not have a car and did not need one. I would recommend VN to anyone,. But not for a quiet pool area.

Good hotel in a great location. It's on the main road and surrounded by lots of good restaurants in easy walking distance.
We stayed in room 6 down, which is on ground level. It was nicely decorated and had everything for cooking, fridge, stove, microwave, dishes, pots etc. Not that we ever used them, there are just too many great places to eat.
We had dinner on two nights in the hotel's poolside restaurant and bar. The food was very good. Even better were the great bar staff who made it a fun experience.
We liked it so much that we asked about staying another two nights. Our room was not available, so they showed us another at the same price (level 3). We didn't like the look of that room at all. It was not decorated as well as our room and was down some very steep stairs. In our opinion not worth paying the same for.
The only other real negative was the included breakfast. It was egg, rice and beans, and fruit. The only choice was scrambled or fried eggs. This was great the first day but by the third we were starting to think about giving it a miss. Only reason we went was for the caffeine.
I'd stay there again, but make sure I got the right room.

We spent a week at Villas Nicolas after having originally stayed there for a few days in 2008. This time we stayed in "3 down" and it was perfect. the larger room, with living room and kitchen, were great since we were there for 7 days, and really helped make it feel like we were home. The giant balcony, my single favorite thing about Villas Nicolas, didn't disappoint. There was plenty of seating for our group of friends with whom we traveled. The hammock offered a fabulous ocean view....and a view of the numerous monkeys that played in the trees surrounding the balcony! We spend some downtime at the pool and the bar, both of which were great. The poolside breakfast, included in the price of the room, of gallo pinto, eggs, toast, fruit, and coffee, was the perfect start to every day. As for location, I think the location of Villas Nicolas is pretty much perfect. You can walk to tons of bars and restaurants, and the beach is a scenic walk or fast bus ride away. Plus, you're far enough from the hectic touristy area by the beach, which means it is quiet at night....aside from the howler monkeys, of course.

The staff at VN is super friendly and accommodating; if you reach out to them ahead of time, they can help you plan some great excursions or tours. I can't say enough good things about Villas Nicolas.
