We had the most wonderful experience staying at Casa de Frutas, the beautiful villa located in Tulemar Gardens and managed by Mauricio. The house itself was breathtaking and decorated so beautifully. Fresh tropical flowers everywhere, open air living space, an amazing ocean view -- I could go on and on. Mauricio and his staff (Sandra, Mayela, Chris) were wonderful and so sweet -- they kept the house, pool and grounds in tip top shape day after day. Mauricio was a great source of information and he set up adventures for us and was so helpful in so many ways -- it was comforting having him around to answer our questions. The owner, Dave, was gracious and so friendly, it was an added bonus meeting and spending time with him. We had monkeys visit almost every day, along with birds, sloths, butterflies. There are waterfalls and hiking trails to a private beach where there are body boards, kayaks, loungers and chairs available for guests, There were five of us and we all felt pampered and well taken care of. We were all sad when we had to leave and venture back into the real world. We will definitely be back -- we're already planning our 2014 vacation and will be staying at Casa de Frutas.

Room Tip: The bedrooms all have A/C but we didn't need it the whole time we were there (end of June thru e...

Tripadvisor did not let me down when it comes to our visit to Costa Rica but the best find by far was the Tulemar Bungalows. Priceless views, shuttle service down to the tulemar private beach, above and beyond concierge service, monkeys and animals galore, basically everything you could ask for in a Costa Rica resort. We also booked ADR adventure through the hotel and they came and picked us up at our bungalow doorstep. I still smile when I think of the other passengers they had already picked up asking "do you have a great view" and I say modestly "yes" while I'm bursting out the seams thinking we have an amazing view, duh. Then they all asked "how did you find this place?" My answer is thank goodness for tripadvisor and all the great reviews.

I highly recommend Tulemar and Nido de Gansos! We were a group of three couples and this house suited our situation perfectly. If you're looking for something with comparable rooms for each couple, look no further. Every room has a comfy king bed, bathroom, and balcony...the master is only slightly larger. There's plenty of space and privacy for everyone!
We enjoyed the private beach...had a great "monkey show" from a family of 8-10! The restaurant down there is just okay, but the drinks are very good! Next to the house, we saw all three types of monkeys, toucans, and a sloth! If you're interested in surfing, don't miss the chance to go out with Diego and his guys: they're great teachers! Both Bill and Diego do a great job making sure the house and its guests are well cared for. I do suggest that you let them know if you're more of an independent traveler. There's an expectation that you'll advise of when you're leaving the house, what your plans are, as well as that they will make all restaurant/activity reservations.
General tips: Take advantage of the grocery-stocking service for just $20: the lowest priced stores will be nearly 200% of U.S. prices. Try going somewhere near Tulemar yourself and it will be 300%. The immediate area has several good restaurants, which I've reviewed separately. Cabs are fairly inexpensive ($10 for a mini-van) and easy to get in shoulder-season. Don't forget to tip all of the people who are providing service at Tulemar. Have some cash for a lump-sum tip the day you leave (for 6 nights our group did around $200). Have fun!

Hi AZjkk.....thanks for the review on Nido de Gansos in Tulemar.....one of our premier private villas.....this 3 bedroom villa does work well for three couples.....as each bedroom has a king bed.....and they are about the same size.....plus it also has three separate social areas....plenty of room to spread out......plus a private pool and ocean views.......and the concierge service from Diego/Bill......(who are happy to provide full or limited service as you request).......thanks for the general tips.....and for tipping the staff.....always appreciated......we hope to see all of you back again!

First, I agree with everything Sarapnap described. We stayed in Villa Mot-Mot #307 during June and loved every minute of it! Rainforest, beachfront, views, wildlife, service (Bill was outstanding!), location & distance to grocery store and restaurants, pools ... all were amazing! We loved the mot-mot we stayed in; great lay-out, lots of windows, nicely decorated, everything you could possibly need was there, clean, close to the pool, and my favorite of all .... the large deck with a grill, table, couch, rocking chairs and a hammock - a true rainforest retreat! What a way to relax and enjoy Costa Rica. We even had a cute nightly visitor we named 'Cody Coatimundi' who slept on our deck chair, a three-toed sloth that used our deck rafters as a route from one tree to the other, & monkeys, among all the other animals on the property. If there was one thing that I could have done without, it would have been all the inclines .... to the parking, to the shuttle, to the pool .... However, that aside, we loved every minute of our stay and would stay there again in a heartbeat!

HI luvtrvlng1....thanks for the great review on your stay in Villa Mot Mot in Tulemar.....we're so glad you enjoyed your time with us.....Villa Mot Mot is one of our most popular villas.....for all the reasons that you mentioned.....and is often booked 6 months in advance......I do understand your remark about the "inclines"......yes....most of the hotels in Manuel Antonio are built along the hillside in order to get those amazing views and have access to the wildlife......a nice trade off for the ramps or stairs......happy to know that you'll be back.....and we'll be ready for you!

Stayed here in June with two young kids (7,5), and they loved it. Bungalow was very confortable for several days. Incredible views. Private beach was nice and empty. Waking distance to grocery store and several good restaurants. Staff and service was exceptional. Easy and cheap bus service to Park. Wildlife was the highlight. Saw 3 types of monkeys, a sloth, several iguanas, geckos, and many birds on the property, before even goig to the park. Pools were very nice. Would absolutely stay here again.

This place was incredible, didn't want to leave.... There was 5 of us in a two bedroom bungalow and it was plenty big enough for us. We were staying in the white face monkey and from the outdoor jacuzzi on the upper balcony to the outdoor showers on the bottom balcony it was picture perfect! Lovely resort, great housekeeping and wonderful accommodations. Would be more then willing to stay there again, wouldn't stay anywhere else actually! Pura Vida!!!!

This was easily the best place we stayed at in Costa Rica. Chris was very proactively helpful and communicative, even well before our trip started. The bungalows were perfect for our family (we had #111), and the place was clean throughout, even in spots that could've been left dusty in most hotels. The private beach is nice, if a bit rocky... At least it's completely uncrowded, and there's no concerns about your car being left in a public area. Nice pool too. This place isn't cheap, but as I've noted in other reviews, nothing in this area is. Would I say here again? Absolutely.
