We recently stayed at La Mariposa for our friends wedding, and fell in love with the most amazing views, and staff. Allan, who was working the pool bar worked hard to not only make sure we had a good time, but that the wedding reception was top notch (worked a 13 hour day). The staff went out of their way at every turn to make sure this was a truly enjoyable experience. You won't be disappointed staying here. If your going to plan a destination wedding, Maria does a great job. We'll be back to La Mariposa for sure!!

My first time in Costa Rica. 2nd for my girlfriend, we stayed here the last week in October into Nov.

La Mariposa was excellent in every way possible. The view was incredible, the food was great and the staff and service were second to none.

I Would highly recommend staying here to everyone.

It's also conveniently located to a lot of great restaurants and a few local shops.

The room was very spacious with an excellent view of the ocean. we were lucky to witness capuchin monkeys outside our door along with many species of birds on a daily basis.
Don't be surprised by geckos in your bedroom. They don't bother anyone. They just hangout on the walls and in the corners.
We were very comfortable with our accommodations

The time of year we went. The temperature was excellent. It wasn't too buggy.

I can't wait to return. The infinity pool is calling me and my soon to be wife, to come see that sunset again

I've traveled extensively with my travel buddy and choosing a good hotel is of utmost importance to us. We liked what we saw in the comments for La mariposa and hoped our experience would be as wonderful as others. WELL, I would say it SURPASSED others' experiences. Our room (32) was spacious and clean and the view was beyond incredible (especially during sunset) . More important than the accommodations was the STAFF - we felt like we were part of the Mariposa family :) ! Byron was so helpful and Johanness (hope I spelled his name right) went out of his way to accommodate us and took a personal interest in helping us plan our days to our specifications. ( I apologize but there's a third guy at the front desk who was wondrerful as well ) But even better than the staff were... THE MONKEYS! OMG, they scampered about and were more than willing to pose for photos :)
Overall our experience at La Mariposa was awesome and, in addition to recommending this hotel to others, we plan to return! They ROCK in guest services.
we highly recommend the villa vanilla tour as well as the national park.

Room Tip: the rooms in the main building are huge and have incredible views. the corner rooms looked awesome if you can secure one of those.

Waking up to a stunning view of Manuel Antonio National Park will be one of my favorite memories of our Costa Rica trip. We had two rooms for a family of five, adjoining by balcony. The rooms were comfortable, clean and well-appointed - no problems at all. Loved the floor to ceiling sliding glass doors with the amazing views -- even saw a dozen or more squirrel monkeys racing through the trees one morning. There are great cafes in the neighborhood, easy to walk to. Cafe Milagro (incredible food!) was our favorite, and my teens enjoyed El Avion for the atmosphere. The walk to the beach was easy and fun for us, maybe a mile downhill to get there, uphill to get back, and the beach was expansive and lovely. Our funnest day by far was white water rafting the Savegre - a tour booked by Sebastian at the front desk (he is AWESOME). The front desk and housekeeping staff do a topnotch job at La Mariposa, as does the pool bartender. Unfortunately, the bartender upstairs is often MIA and getting a drink in the evening is nearly impossible. The restaurant is great for the breakfast buffet (included), but too over-priced, with mediocre food and service, to bother with at other times of the day. The pool is gorgeous with amazing views, but it gets crowded, with only half as much seating as it needs to accommodate the amount of guests. The views and the location make this hotel a great, comfortable place to stay while you explore Manuel Antonio.

Room Tip: Stunning views facing Manuel Antonio National Park and the beach.

Hotel La Mariposa is a beautiful hotel with the most amazing sunset views in Manuel Antonio. The rooms are all air conditioned and clean. We ended up with a more modern room that had nice views but the lighting was intrusive and garish. I would reserve one of the older rooms which I think had more character with better lighting. The free breakfast was good. The pool was beautiful. Overall, it was a good experience.
