“Amazing View”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 4, 2012

We just returned from a fantastic trip to Costa Rica. We arrived at La Mansion at night. When we pulled back the curtains in the morning, all we could say was WOW. The view was gorgeous!
The room was spacious and nice. But, the sheets were a bit scratchy.
The staff was extremely helpful and friendly! The food was good. Try the eggs benedict, it's delicious. We had a cute little monkey looking over the edge of the roof watching us while we had breakfast. I would definately go back.
If you're driving, be extremely careful going around the hill-top corner below the inn. There's a horse that likes to stand right at the edge of the road.

Thank you for your kind review of La Mansion Inn. We are always very proud and excited to show of some of the amazing views and Sunsets the hotel has to offer.

We also thank you for your constructive criticism regarding the "scratchy sheets". We purchase new linens for all the rooms on a very regular basis and there are those rare times when the new bed sheets might feel this way simply because it is their first use. This is a good reminder for us to use extra softening agents with brand new sheets.

We hope to see you return to the hotel sometime!

This hotel was recommended by the daughter of my "mama tica" in Costa Rica. It is a real "find." The hotel is located at the end of a road so it is secluded and a bit away from the other hotels... The rooms are spacious and the view is "phenomenal." But the best feature of this special place is the people who work there....Carlos at the front desk and all the rest are wonderful. They make you feel like it is your home. If you viist Manuel Antonio and don't stay at the Mansion, it is your loss.

I cannot say enough good things about this beautiful hotel! From the views anywhere in the hotel to the staff (ALL staff!). Everyone and everything worked together to make this the most enjoyable experience for my husband and I! The rooms are clean and the housekeeping staff are friendly and helpful. The rooms are beautifully decorated - basic rooms all the way to the Presidential Suite! The restaurant has the best chef and wait staff that can compete with some of the best restaurants in the U.S.

I would love to thank everyone personally but there are too many to name! Just know that if you stay here you will be treated like royalty!!! Thank you La Mansion Inn!!!

Room Tip: No need to spend the extra money on a Junior Suite, the basic rooms are just as beautiful and the vi...

My husband and I are physically in the hotel this minute! We are on our honeymoon and are so impressed with the place that we decided to write a review before we leave while emotions are high and details are available. We absolutely love it here and are so upset we have to go back home in 2 days!! This is our 3rd night and we have enjoyed every second of being here. The staff knows us by name and chat with us frequently about their lives, ours, places to go to eat, things to do and more. Jorge, Jonathan and Jesus are our favorites, so look out for them; they're great guys! The view from our room is stunning and housekeeping comes twice per day to bring new towels, goodies, and to turn down the bed. They are also quite skilled at creating towel sculptures! The food has been fantastic (the pancakes at breakfast are better than any IHOP in the US) and we love getting drinks at the pool swim up bar. There are frequent shuttles to the local beach, and the staff is more than happy to arrange rides into town and to call taxis for you if you want to eat anywhere else. The only negative thing we can say is the the towels and sheets are a tad scratchy on our newly sunburned bodies! SPF 80+ is a necessity here; the Costa Rican sun is STRONG! I hope this review was helpful and I urge you to stay here. It is the 4th hotel we have stayed in in CR and is by far our favorite! We are already talking about returning for our 20 year anniversary. ( or 5 if we can't wait that long to come back!!)

Room Tip: We are in room 10 and truly believe we have the best view in the whole place; request it when you bo...

The mansion inn was wonderful! My husband and I stayed for three nights. The staff was great, the views were awesome and the rooms were comfortable and air conditioned. Special shout outs to to the guys at the bat cave and pool bars- Bart, Adrian, Jonathan, and Jesus!
The restaurant was also nice with good food. Great service by Juan Carlos and Jorge for breakfast! We were also so happy to be able to wake up and watch a sloth that was living in a tree right across from the hotel!!
Also they have a free shuttle/ car that can take youto the beach right next to the nature reserve- definitely something to check out with a guide!
We will be back again hopefully. Pura Vidal!!

This hotel was probably my favorite hotel we stayed at in our 9 days of travel. It wasnt because of the rooms, although they were nice but because of the location, staff, and views. Everyone went above and beyond making us feel comfortable and at home. The pool bar and view is the best I have ever seen. It over looks the ocean and the drinks were fantastic (I loved the vodka watermelons). The Bat Cave bar was really neat and we always started out our night there. They do have a taxi service from the hotel to the beach which is really nice since taxi rides are $8 to and from however no one told us about that until our last day (which was another couple from the hotel and not the staff). That would probably be my only complaint. For some reason we didnt get the tour and the welcome drinks and thats where they tell you about the shuttle. With that being the only negative thing I have to say I still give the hotel an A and would highly recommend it to anyone going to Manuel Antonio.

The room was nice and our view was absolutely beautiful. We had dinner in the restaurant one night and the food and wine were quite good -- liked the big fish tanks, too. The bat cave bar was interesting, not exactly our style, though. They were very helpful in giving us breakfast to go one morning because we had an early tour picking us up and they helped us organize a guide for Manuel Antonio Nat'l Park. The 360 view on top was pretty and there were some cool iguanas there and a handful of monkeys eating breakfast right outside our window one morning, which was lots of fun to watch. Overall it was nice and the review would have ended there, but...

Some things were stolen out of our car when we had to leave the keys with the front desk. We'd heard the warnings about not leaving anything in your car when traveling through Costa Rica, so we always brought in all of our electronics, wallets, etc. We had just returned from a long day of ziplining and came back to freshen up before going out to dinner, so we left a couple sweatshirts, a jacket, a backup cell phone, a small bag of dirty clothes and some souvenirs we'd bought at a village and in town in the car. The souvenirs were covered by the sweatshirt and/or in a nondescript plastic bag, so it certainly didn't look like anything worth stealing. My boyfriend had his backpack in back so when we returned he opened the trunk to grab it, locked the door and handed me the keys to lock mine (no fancy door-locking key buttons on this Jimny!)

The car was parked in the hotel lot WITH A "SECURITY GUARD" and the hotel/parking is up a hill off the road, not near a lot of foot traffic, etc. We had to leave the car with the front desk because we blocked another car (lot is very small). When we got back to the car roughly 2 hours later everything in the back was gone -- nothing life-changing but all told about $375 worth of stuff, including an indigenous mask we got on a horseback trip that we really dug. After talking to security and to the front desk, nothing was solved so we headed out to dinner. They called the police for us and we met with them the next day. The hotel showed us "security footage" of the front desk guy going out to move our car and said it was proof nothing happened, but our car WASN'T ON CAMERA so the video was pretty pointless. You couldn't see the security guy, the front desk guy or our car, you could only see when he left through the main lobby to move it and came back in through the lobby. We liked the front desk guy and wouldn't want to accuse him of anything -- maybe he just forgot to lock the door - or maybe he and/or the security guy were involved in the theft. Either way, it was a real bummer for our trip and the police officers even told us (unsolicited) that the security footage was totally pointless and didn't prove anything. Meeting with the police pushed back our long drive to Tamarindo an hour+, too, which sucked.

Nice hotel but nothing all that special, particularly if you're left wondering if an employee might have been involved in something fishy.

While we do not dispute that things were taken from the car, we do dispute the claim that it did happen at our hotel parking lot. This robbery could very well have happened at the restaurant establishment where you decided to have dinner that night. Not only as hotel owner, but as the President of the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Tourism of the Canton de Aguirre and Chairman of the Security Committee I am well aware of the “grab and snatch” incidents at this particular area restaurant located on the main road leading to Manuel Antonio. The fact is that cars do get robbed rather frequently by robbers that do have most copies of rental car keys. Please do not get me wrong but the likelihood of this incident to have happened at our hotel parking lot is rather slim. In fact, in the 12 years of operation of my hotel we never had a car break-in because of the fact that we have ample security in place and the parking lot is designed in a way that robberies are virtually impossible. As coincidence would have it that particular night, the owner of the Security Company that we contract with was working himself because one of his regular guards called in sick. I also did review the security tape and, as others, did not see anything unusual on the tape.

However, because of the fact that a break-in did happen in our area and because of your financial loss, I would like to offer you a return stay as a small compensation for this incident.
