The Parador had its drawbacks (slow service with errors, esp. at poolside, minor things in need of repair, not cheap, a bit far from a nice beach and a small downhill trek to a small local beach) but the personnel were friendly and helpful, the free breakfasts bountiful, and, most significantly, the setting was magnificent: surrounded by forest, with hundreds of bird and butterfly species to be seen from the balcony, and sloths, capuchin monkeys and rare squirrel monkeys, iguanas all on the grounds. A wonderful pararamic view of the ocean to the north and south.

My husband and I just came back from a week stay at Hotel Parador. We loved it.We stayed in the junior suites(quite a hike up the hill), which are the best rooms. The view every morning overlooking the ocean and jungle is spectacular. The staff is great, they really try to please, and accomadate you.Andres at the front desk is especially nice, also Krishne,Gabriella, etc.Mario was our waiter, hes very sweet.Im sorry i dont have all the names, since they were all nice. The adult pool was "muy tranquillo",we tried to go there at the end of every day.We took 2 tours-the Mangrove tour, and Manuel Antonio Hike, both were great and very informative. Two restaurants in town that were outstanding were Karolas and Plinio.Plinio was one of the best Asian meals I've had.The hotel restaurants are very good.We especially like the huge breakfast buffet, with fresh fruit. The hotel has a free shuttle to Manuel Antonio Park and beaches every day.I would recommend flying Sansa(a small plane) from San Jose to Quepos, rather than driving. The plane takes about 25 minutes, the drive takes about 3 1/2 hours. We took cabs the few times we wanted to leave the hotel, everyplace was $5.00The hotel is truly beautiful, and everyone was really nice.Definitly worth the trip.

The hotel was beautiful. The one thing that I like the most was the service. The employees are sweethearts. The rooms are not the biggest, but they had the most beautiful views. You can see birds early in the morning and monkeys in the afternoon. The hotel was not beachfront, but none of the premium hotels in the area are because they are set on a cliff (hence the nice view). The breakfast was great and it had a lot of variety. They also gave us local coffee as a parting gift.
