We recently had our wedding at the Hotel Parador and we could not have been happier with the service and treatment that we and our guests had received! We felt like royalty! Carolina (the concierge) had to put up with me (the bride) and all of my rediculous demands and questions right from the start and she was always very helpful and accommodating to our needs. She was always cheerful and had a smile on her face, even when I changed the ceremony location at the last minute! Everything was perfect from the flowers and decorations to the food and the reception . The hotel property was beautiful with outstanding views in every direction. Out of the six rooms we had at the resort only one smelled musty. In a humid, tropical environment that's pretty good, all of the other hotels we stayed in during our trip smelled like mold. All of our guests were extremely happy with their rooms and the service that they had received. The meals were great! Especially the breakfast buffet....they had many options and all were outstanding! The view from the pool was amazing and everyone LOVED the swim up bar! We had a couples massage at the spa the day of the wedding. The spa was very nice as were the staff. Once again, we felt very important, like royalty. Since everyone else complains about the road in, I have to talk about that! Get over it people! We drove all over Costa Rica and compared to some of the stuff we drove through, this was cake! Yeah, it wasn't your everyday perfectly paved commute to work, but we drove through worse! In other areas of the country we had to drive through heards of cattle and rushing streams to reach our destinations! Of course, if you took the island hopper in and paid a driver to chauffer you around Manuel Antonio, you may be disappointed about the road, but I absolutly agree that "the rocky, hilly, dirt roads are part of the country's culture and if this person actually traveled trough the country they would think this road is just fine." If you're not into "roughing it" then you may agree that the road in could be better, just get what you need before you go in and don't go out until you have to leave! As far as the new construction goes, we were up and at it by 5 am anyway. You're in Costa Rica people, do you really want to sleep in!!!!! The day we did sleep in....the day after the wedding ;-) we didn't hear a thing and our room was very close to the new construction. I can't say the same about our residence in the US, between the barking dogs and the jackhammering on a new construction around the corner, this was quiet! To those who compared this to the Holiday Inn.... granted, you're not at The Mansion at MGM Grand in Las Vegas but the Hotel Parador exceded our expectations by far and I would LOVE to see the Holiday Inn's that you've been staying at :-)

This is a great hotel. The views are immaculate wherever you are in the premises. We have a jungle room, the least expensive room, and we still scored on an ocean view! There is a construction next door, but I never heard a thing. The pools are amazing, stay at the adult pool to avoid the family scene. Definitely rent a 4WD car, our little Suzuki Alto rental made the rough road, because it's not a big deal; and there is a free shuttle to the park, which is about a 150-200 meter walking distance to the beach. The piano player is a nice touch...he would announce where you are from. There's a happy hour from 6-7 at 2 for 1. We walked in to get a good deal on the hotel rate, even at the lowest (green) season. The hotel is also isolated from the vicinity, which is good for me and my bf. But it's a 15-minute walking distance down to the beach. All around a great find. Be prepared to see large iguanas the size of childrens legs crawling around the driveway, birds joining in on your free (best ever) breakfast buffet, and sometimes racoons by the pool. I felt like I am in the middle of a jungle/rainforest, but still with the first-class amenities. The citrus pear shampoo is refreshing. And the staff are helpful, even to each other.

We were very skeptical about Hotel Parador because of the concerns from other members about the road problems. We are very glad we took a chance on this hotel, we had a great experience, but we agree the road was pretty bad. We would never rent a car again in Costa Rica the local transportation is very reliable and fairly inexpensive. The hotel was what we expected, the rooms are pretty average similar to a Holiday Inn in the states. The things that made this hotel above average for us was the service, the employees and the views. We did not feel this was a high end luxury hotel, but a comfortable, warm and welcoming place. The hotel is older and shows some wear and tear, yet still very clean and well maintained. We can not wait to go back to Hotel Parador, we miss the swim up bar with Danny and Giovanni. Also, Alex the server was the very best we have ever experienced. Our only problem with this hotel was when we checked out, we were told our room upgrade was at no additional charge but our bill reflected an additional $75.00 a night. When I e-mailed the hotel to share my disappointment with this discrepancy they immediately responded, apologized and offered to refund the difference. For us this was not a big deal and we appreciated that they immediately offered to correct the problem. We would not consider another hotel in Manual Antionio because we loved Hotel Parador so much. Once you make it down the horrible road you will experience an incredible view that will make it all worth it.

We just returned from Costa Rica and we spent the last 4 nights of our trip at the Hotel Parador in Manuel Antonio... What an amazing hotel! Our experience was great in every way. The views form this hotel are unbelieveable and the facilities are immaculate. The hotel blends very nicely with the jungle atmosphere around it and gives you a true chance to combine luxury and nature. I am very glad I did not see the post from the traveler who posted complaints about the road to the hotel. I traveled all over Costa Rica...let's face it- the rocky, hilly, dirt roads are part of the country's culture and if this person actually traveled trough the country they would think this road is just fine. I would recommend this hotel to anyone and I would strognly recommend the premium rooms since this view is amazing, There is a new construction going on but we couldn't hear it from our room and if you are smart, you are want to be up early having a great breakfast and exploiring this beautiful country anyway. The staff was superb here and the pools and spa facility were both excellent... If you go to Manual Antonio you should stay here. You will be glad you did...

Sadly, we did not stay at the Hotel Parador having been scared off by the reviews from other visitors on this website regarding the "dangerous road." Instead we stayed at Issimo Suites where we received half of the Parador's amenities and services at twice the price! And it turned out the Issimo was on the same road! The road is fine - a bit steep and bumpy like all the other roads in Manuel Antonio and certainly nothing to worry about- tourist buses, trucks, cabs all navigate this road day and night without worry. We did spend an afternoon at the Parador's pool having drinks and lunch and it absolutely beautiful with the most fabulous views in the area.

Travellers -
This is a warning. if you plan to to go there, consider this:
This Hotel would easily score 4 or 5* - but we have the splendid view of our rooms into the 30-all-suite-4-floor-construction-site! What a disappointment. This is the situation after speaking to the Mgmt:
- The owners decided to upgrade into a suite-only annex.
- Location is beautiful, view stunning and probably the right thing economically to do as there are no other top notch places around.
- HOWEVER, there is a shortage of time as the annex has to be ready for the December season.
- So right now, every morning at 6.15 am, Saturday and Sunday, there is the noise from the site which is heard through closed windows, drills, scaffolding build-up, hammering.
- We complaint and were told that the Mgmt is well aware, this is the case, but for lack of time, the work is necessary. (compensation...!)

Summary -RECOMMENDATION
This is a superlocation, freindly staff, not too sizeable nice Hotel like no other we have been on our tour.
GO THERE, BUT POST CONSTRUCTION PERIOD.

ps: drop me a mail if you where there lately and did not consder this an issue, i like to have your views.

I stayed there 2 years in the row- Mar 07 & Mar 08. Its one of the best hotels in Manuel antonio. Service, views and ambience are spectacular. The only problem you might have is that they had a lot of construction going on on the road that goes to the hotel, so check w/ the hotel before booking. This year we got a free upgrade to the superior room. This in one of my favorite places on the Earth!
