“Absolutely incredible all around”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 16, 2013

We went to Hotel Parador for our honeymoon and it was fabulous. The executive summary is that the service was extraordinary, the hotel was beautiful and well-maintained, its surrounding natural environment was so amazing I had to see it to believe it, and the food and drinks were excellent.

Hotel Parador picked us up at the airport in San Jose (a 3-hour drive from the hotel), and at the end of our stay they returned us to San Jose and dropped us at the hotel where we were to spend our last few days in Costa Rica.

Our "Vista suite" room was beautiful itself, but also had a breathtaking view of the Pacific, of Parador's lush rainforest surroundings, and even of the infinity pool, which changed colors every few seconds at night. From just outside the door to our room, we could watch monkeys playing in the trees just 50 yards away.

The first full day we were there, they called our room and asked if we'd like a reservation for dinner. I hadn't figured we'd need one, since it wasn't high tourist season and we seemed to have the whole place to ourselves, but I said yes anyway. We had a wonderful dinner, and returned to our room to find that they had put flower petals and candles on the floor of our room, leading out to a bubble bath in the whirlpool on our room's balcony. It was very romantic and a complete surprise to us.

As mentioned by others, it is a bit difficult to get anywhere from the hotel, as it isn't within walking distance of anything, EXCEPT for a wonderful little beach where the water temperature was just perfect and there weren't any riptides because it was in a small bay off the Pacific.

We had booked and paid for a package in the Vista suite for our first 6 nights, but our last 2 nights were to be in a lower-tier, less expensive room. However, 2 days before we were scheduled to switch rooms, the front desk called to tell us we didn't need to switch to the lower-tier room - we could spend our last 2 nights in the same room at no extra charge.

Room Tip: I highly recommend the Vista Suites. While expensive, they do have a few exclusive benefits, and th...

This hotel is Manuel Antonio is a nice four star and although we did enjoy our stay here we were disappointed with aspects of the resort. The resort is sprawling on a hill and is a taxi ride from the “town” which is fine as the views are nice. Although the resort was at very low occupancy (during the rainy season), we were not upgraded to a better room with a view. Although our Tropical room had a balcony it overlooked the terrace area of the suites pool so we had to have our drapes closed much of the time. The overall décor look of the resort is more Pirates of the Caribbean than tropical. The two pools were nice with good views.
Food was fine but not great so we went off the resort 2 of our 3 nights. It’s a taxi ride to any other dining options. The Concierge was very sweet and helpful.
The spa was being renovated so we got a reduced rate for a couples massage in the Presidential Suite. The massages were good but the location made it not a special experience.
I would have liked to be able for rate it between Average and Very Good.

We are truly sorry to hear you were disappointed with some aspects of our resort during your stay. We work very hard to ensure our guests have a wonderful experience and leave with lots of happy memories. We’re saddened by your comments because, as you can see by the many other comments added to TripAdvisor around the same time as your stay, our staff, the quality of the buffet and our service was highly commended by our visitors. Nevertheless, we sincerely appreciate your feedback as it allow us to continuously improve our product and service.

As for the exquisite beauty of the natural surroundings, the buildings and the rooms, and the high quality of the food, I'll simply concur with the praise you've seen in other reviews.

But I need to gush about the personal service we received in the wake of an off-site accident. My wife tripped a fell on a sidewalk in town and broke her shoulder. One witness thoughtfully called an ambulance, another was clever enough to call our hotel. One Parador concierge, Sylvia, assured us that someone would meet us at the emergency room.

A few minutes after we got to the ER, the sweet and amazing Shirley arrived, immediately becoming our advocate, translator, and calming presence. When my wife needed an x-ray, Shirley tracked down a technician and pulled him off an extended coffee break. She ran interference with doctors, administrators, and billing clerks. When we were done, she got us back to the hotel, which had already arranged to switch us to a larger, more convenient room. A golf cart was waiting for us to whisk my wife to the new room while Shirley helped me pack up the old one. There wasn't a moment when she seemed to be "going through the motions." Her concern was evident and genuine.

Soon the new room had one more accessory -- a lovely flower basket with a Get Well Soon sign.

There was still one piece of medical equipment that needed to be picked up, and the next morning Sylvia arranged for the pickup and had it delivered to our room.

At every step, the staff expressed its concern, and offered its help. EVERYONE went above and beyond their duties.

The result was that -- despite the circumstances -- we have very fond memories of our visit to Hotel Parador. If we return to the area, we are certain to make a return visit. Our heartfelt thanks to everyone there who helped.

Room Tip: The suites are astounding!

You see beautiful landscapes on TV, but when you see them in person...wow! Manuel Antonio is an incredible place, and Hotel Parador was the perfect place to stay when we saw it. I highly recommend going during the off season. There are no crowds, small numbers on all the tours, and plenty of room at the beaches and pools.

There's plenty of good places to eat near the hotel, and Manuel Antonio National Park is fantastic if you like nature.

As to the hotel itself? We were treated from the moment we were picked up until we left with the BEST service we've ever had. My wife and I went for our 20th anniversary, and it exceeded our expectations.

The staff was awesome. Marianella helped us coordinate our stay. MIguel and Jorge at the front desk were extremely polite, welcoming, and professional. Carolina and Sylvia in guest relations were fantastic and helped us out with many small questions and needs. May and Roberto at the tour desk, along with Josue and Yeltsin, the staff nature guides were not only knowledgeable and helpful, but I considered them friends by the time we left. Juan Carlon, Eric, Fabian, Deany, and all the restaurant/wait staff were excellent as well. These people know, and care about, incredible service.

The resort itself is big enough that you don't feel like you're in a fishbowl, but not so large that you can't get from point to point in just a few minutes. The small beach (Playa Beisanz) a couple hundred meters from the resort is beautiful and quiet. Three pools, a spa, and world class views at every turn just cap it all off.

We'll be back!

Room Tip: "Los Estates" rooms have private balcony whirlpool tubs. Don't feel like you necessar...

This was our first time to Costa Rica and what a wonderful trip it has been. The Hotel Parador has been fantastic from the time we got here until now which is our last night here. The service has been impeccable from emails when I was planning the trip Marinella was amazing. The food has been fantastic with Juan Carlos, Eric serving us everyday always with a smile. The other wait staff Jonathan, Andres and others paid such attention to us, I want to take them home! We leave tomorrow but because this hotel has been so wonderful and the grounds are beautiful (you will not see a dead leave at this place) it will not be forgotten.

Room Tip: We upgraded our room and it was amazing. The room wrapped around so we could see both sides. Howeve...

This hotel exceeded my expectations!! I purchased a Living Social coupon for this trip for a friend and I. I contacted the hotel and Evelyn was excellent in guiding me all the way - from booking the room, to air and ground transportation.

Once we arrived at the hotel, we never left - well except for a Zip Line excursion and a Whale Watch trip on a Catamaran. The hotel booked all of this for us - no brainer!!

Being in the rain forest - we did have one day that it just rained all day. What's a girl to do? HIT THE SPA!!! So beautiful and professional. Great treatments and friendly staff!

Everyone in the restaurant and bar areas were friendly and helpful. They remembered our names right away and what we preferred to drink.

The resort itself is so self contained and so large - with the hiking trails and numerous pools and bars, that we just never had to leave!!

Such a beautiful and tranquil spot. Our room was # 2506 - direct ocean views overlooking the rock islands and the adult pool with a waterfall.

Would I go back!?!? In a heartbeat!!!

Room Tip: We had a huge suite overlooking the adult pool. Beautiful balcony with a Jacuzzi tub...WOW!!

Hello everybody !
I am from Costa Rica, and I have been in many 5 stars hotels but.. I wonder about the service in this hotel.. I don't have words to explain how I appreciate the attention and help they gave to me when .I had some troubles outside and they gave me the best attention and possibly help.
Personally the service are the best in any hotel...and they have the best service and attention possible..
The area is pretty nice, amazing view, very close to the national park "Manuel Antonio" my favourite national park... Amazing beaches, real rainforest experience, surf, snorkel, quite and comfortable...
I recommend to visit there...
If you are looking for comfortable place, amazing view, all the services, amazing adventure... You should visit Manuel Antonio and stay in the best hotel in the area..
Pura vida
