We stayed here in mid December about a week before the busy season. The grounds are beautiful and we loved the pool area as well. The monkey trail is a nice addition to the property. We went on it a multiple times, sometimes we would see sloths and monkeys other times we didn't see anything. So it is hit or miss, but definitely worth checking out. We did however see monkeys on our first day near the breakfast area. It was really neat to see them so close.

We didn't eat on property except for the breakfast, which was delicious. We loved having an ocean view while dining on french toast and fresh fruit. All of the staff members we encountered were very friendly and helpful.

We stayed in a Garden Plus room and got a really good rate. The hotel was definitely worth the price per night. The room was spacious and the decor was slightly plain, but over all nice. The only issues we really had were with the bathroom. The shower head was a little crazy, I am not sure if it was broken or if thats just how it was. We also got some little ants around the sink area when I left a bar of soap out. Neither of these issues were really worth complaining to the hotel about, but I just thought I would mention them.

We did hike down to the private beach area one morning. It was worth the trip because we saw a ton of monkeys and little baby monkeys in the forest between the street and the beach. It does take like 10 minutes to get down to the beach and I recommend wearing good shoes because it is a rocky hike. The beach itself was small and quite, but nice. It was a little too low key for us so we decided to head to the Manuel Antonio beach, which I suggest checking out as well.

I recommend renting a car for your trip. It allows you to see and experience all the area has to offer. I will admit that the road up to the hotel was a little scary because it is quite narrow and has some pretty big drop offs!

There are some great restaurants and activities to do in the area. If you head to the beach and are looking for a chair and umbrella then check out Mary's Rentals. They were fantastic! If you want to go zip lining then look into MidWorld. We had a great experience and met some great people! My favorite restaurant was Barba Roja, it is on the main road not too far from the hotel. They have a great sunset view and happy hour. The service was wonderful and so was the food. We actually went there twice because we liked it so much.

Overall, Costa Rica is amazing and so is Hotel Parador!

Yes, indeed, our guests have the opportunity to enjoy tons of monkeys and little baby monkey in the hotel’s surrounding jungle. In fact. Parador has three different varieties of monkeys including the endangered Titi Monkey which now lives in our private reserve. These can be seen daily during our complimentary guided tour by our in-house nature expert. We are glad that you enjoyed your stay at Parador as well as the nearby attractions and look forward to welcoming you in the near future!

Hotel Parador is a top class resort with all on-site services: restaurant, stores, and spa. It even has a reserve inside the grounds. Decoration tries to be Spanish, but it is more Kitsch: a dark medieval-like lobby, Greco-Roman statues and fountains in the middle of the jungle, Arabic details in rooms.

Service is kind all the time, almost sometimes is inefficient. They never sent us to a typical food restaurant. Even if the concierge, the nice lady at the front desk and the shift manager asked us what we wanted and contradicted the others opinion. At the end of the day we dined where we thought is looked well from the outside.

The hotel grounds are enormous so golf carts are needed. We tried not to used them as walking around was enjoyable, but when needed the carts where reliable, fast and also kind. Outside the reserve, everything is taken care of, and is common to see some animals hunted by tourists to have a good picture. The reserve, on the other hand, is intact, full of animals and plants, also with beautiful vistas of the ocean when you get inside.

The rooms are somewhat small for luxury resort, but it is not a new hotel. However size is okay. Beds are good, but again, are not on pair of modern luxury. Rooms are in the need of a major renovation (even if they keep them small). It looks they were painted recently but that is not enough. The bathroom is the worst, the bathtub is peeling and the basin looks old. Also, they need a brand new floor (they should try marble so they forget for the ages). The room looks forty years old.

Breakfast if buffet. The area is nice as has great views and the food is good.

What really enhanced the experience of the hotel was the night tour. As stated before the reserve is amazing. Elias and his crew really do everything to make this experience unforgettable. This is what would make me stay at hotel Parador again.

From the minute we arrived, we were treated like royalty. Upon arriving, we were handed a cold drink and a cool towel. Staff took us for a tour of the grounds while our luggage was hand-carried to our room, arriving when we did. Top Notch staff here, greeting us by name each time they saw us. We got a top floor room with a fantastic view. We took the Safari Canopy zipline tour. They were fantastic too. I could go on and on, but you really have to experience it to believe it.

We extremely enjoyed our trip at the Hotel Parador! The room was fantastic - view was beautiful! Love every moment at the hotel - ! My husband actually requested a very top view overlooking the ocean and we were not disappointed! Saw lots of monkeys and iguanas and was able to snorkel at the local beach. The beach was a short walk but just so awesome to snorkel there! We loved it! Breakfast perfect in every way and dinner was great as well - not as expensive as some others thought! A glass of wine was a little pricey - $9.00 per glass - but we knew that and had bought some wine prior to leaving San Jose! Service was excellent - everyone was so accommodating! No complaints whatsoever! Not being familiar with Costa Rica - we did require a garmon that spoke English which got us right to the front door with the rental car. Excellent staff - very attentive!

Room Tip: The room we had was at the top of the hotel - we needed to utilize a small outdoor elevator and then walked up a couple of flights - we called them the Rapunzel stairwell - lots of steps - but we loved it! PERFECT VIEW! If you were elderly or disabled this would have been difficult.

Originally booked this hotel for 4 nights and extended our stay for 1 additional night. Loved everything about it. It was quiet and peaceful just before Christmas. Hotel has two pools-one is reserved exclusively for adults, the other one has an amazing view over the Pacific ocean . Great food, good locaton, the grounds are well maintained. Saw several iguanas wondering around and a few racoons. Sometimes we were the only people at the "adults" pool and someone would always come and ask if we want a drink...and the cocktails are good too. We had a superior room , and it was well worth the price ,as it had an additional balcony and a sunset view. Really really good place. (Avoid visiting during the Christmas/New Year holidays though as it`s popular with families during this time). Would certainly come again.

Room Tip: superior rooms have ocean view, well worth the upgrade

We love to cater to honeymooners and create something truly special that they will remember for the rest of their lives. Having recently celebrated the hotel’s 17th anniversary, honeymooners that were with us over the years are now returning to celebrate their ongoing wedding anniversaries. We simply love that! And we hope to welcome you back soon!

Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful experience at Parador with others on this forum. Pura Vida!
