We spent a weekend here and we completely fell in love with the Hotel Parador.

On the grounds is a "secondary rainforest" abundant with mono titi monkeys (squirrel monkeys) as well as sloths, lizards, iguanas, etc. The wildlife is allowed to roam free on the grounds and are left unbothered by the staff. We shared breakfast with an iguana one morning and had a blast watching the monkeys and seeing some of the mischief the get into. The hotel is very committed to nature and sustainability and that means a lot to us.

Our room was very, very clean. No complaints whatsoever. The staff was wonderful - very friendly and accommodating.

We spent a lot of time at the pools. They are very clean and just the right temperature!

Yes, the hotel is down a road that may make it difficult to access, but that's the cost of being located with wildlife.

Our only complaint would be even though the hotel has beach access, it really wasn't what we thought of as a typical beach. It was pretty, but not a lay-on-the-beach type of beach.

We just booked our second trip to Hotel Parador. We stayed last February for only two days. We enjoyed it so much that we are going February, 2013 for 12 days. The property is incredibly clean. The pool areas are so very relaxing. If you need a place to really rest and relax you will enjoy this.

If you want to do things away from the hotel; there are some nice places a short drive away.....restaurants, dance clubs, casinos. However, if you are a LasVegas casino person you will feel like you are in a child's toy store in their casinos.......small and not many machines and limited table games. If you win; they can't believe you want to cash out and they make you wait a very long time for a cashier to come to the cage in the hopes that you will give up and gamble your winning chips!

We were fortunate to have a Garden Room and we had a slider that opened right up onto a patio and then onto the lawn area with the beautiful flowers. The patio walls are only half walls so there is no real privacy from your neighbors, but still a peaceful place early in the morning.

We were pleased with the buffet breakfasts that came with our room. We ate a good size breakfast and then we were able to munch at lunch around the pool and then we had dinner one night in the Manual Antonio national park area and one night in the hotel. I agree with other reviewers that the hotel restaurant was not really to my liking and it was a bit pricey when I compared it to the food I was getting around the pool, but wasn't that big of an issue.

Tip: One interesting thing that happened to us; we drove (we had a rental car) to Manual Antonio National Park which is pretty close to the hotel. As we approached a gentleman in "uniform" pants and a shirt with an official looking "badge insignia" on it stopped us just before we were entering the "park" area and told us we had to turn right into a small parking "area" and pay $10 to park our car. We did this. Well guess what? We were scammed. This was just the man that owned that tiny parking lot and had we not been unsure of his "officialness" and continued to drive past him, we would have found many no charge parking spots. So don't be afraid to question the person if this should happen to you.

All in all I recommend this property; especially if you want to rest, relax and read all the magazines and books that you haven't had time to get to.

Got a very nice deal on Groupon and went spur of the moment. Had no idea how it would be but it looked great and I was not disappointed. I upgraded to the next level and the room was perfect. Incredible views, well appointed and spotless.

Best thing was the staff, everyone single one was just great and we were extremely well taken care of. The amount of activities that suited my tase was great and I have to go back to do all of them. Did the Catamaran, the Rain Forest tour and of course snorkelling and the beach. Loved it, thank you

hello.
on the outside of the hotel is very nice and pleasant.
all the workers are friendly except the guy who is selling the tours, unprofessional.
the hotel has 2 great pools, great bar, and you see many animals, monkeys, sloths, birds ... etc..
overall it's a good hotel, but a bit expensive.

Room Tip: nº403 has 3 large air conditioned beneath the balcony. not recommend

We stayed here in mid-Septemeber using a Living Social deal. It was wonderful!

The pros:
1. Our suite. We stayed in a vista suite which included very modern decorations, an awesome view, and a balcony with a jacuzzi tub. Gorgeous and very clean! The suites are the farthest point on the resort, but the walk is not bad at all and they have golf carts if you need them.
2. The service. Everyone from the front desk staff, to the waiters, to the grounds crew were friendly and accommodating.
3. Tour of manuel antonio park arranged through the hotel. Our guide Elias was excellent, spotted lots of wildlife for us. Also, the tour stops at one of the beaches inside the park where you are met by another of the hotel staff who brings cold towels, beach towels, water, and fruit!
4. The spa was great. We had a couples massage which we both thoroughly enjoyed. After the treatment you are invited to stay and use their pool, Jacuzzi, etc, and enjoy fruit, yogurt, juice.
5. The views! everywhere you looked there were beautiful views. grounds are well maintained and the resort looks right over into the Pacific.

The cons:
1. Food on site. Breakfast buffet was standard assortment of local cuisine and american favorites and of course no shortage of fresh fruit. The worst part of the hotel was probably the dinner, and given the lack of nearby options for dining, you are mostly stuck at the hotel to eat. We were generally disappointed by what we ordered off the menu. Prices are high especially given that some dishes were not prepared well. If you do find yourself at the hotel restaurant for dinner, stick to their daily special, or consider happy hour prices at the bar on appetizers, or maybe some sushi rolls.

Other notes:
The hotel has a swim up bar which was excellent. And prices are reasonable, about $6.50 for cocktails which is much better than what we saw at other resorts in costa rica. Also, the main bar does a happy hour where prices are about 40% off.
There is a "monkey trail" - about quarter mile right off the main path of the hotel. great place to see some wild life if you are lucky!
Beach access is a quick hike from the hotel. down the road, then down a path. not the prettiest beach, but it is there. the hotel also offers a free shuttle to the manuel antonio beach area.
The hotel has free wifi that appeared to work well in our room as well as around the resort.
Taxi ride to Quepos will allow you to do some shopping and eat more local and reasonably priced food. But be wary that the taxis may try to charge too much....we paid twice as much on the way out as on the way back to negotiate before riding!

In short, great place! especially if you can get a deal, you must check out Parador!!

Room Tip: Vista suites are the way to go if you can afford it!

We are so happy to hear about your stay at Parador and that enjoyed your vista suite, our hospitality, customer service, the spa, facilities and our guided tour of Manuel Antonio with Elias, who is an expert with a great eye for seeing hidden wildlife. Thank you for also sharing your comments about your experience at our restaurants and bar. We are sad to hear about your disappointment with dinner given that we provide four ocean-view restaurants offering a variety of international and local cuisine. Again, many thanks for sharing your comments on this forum. We hope to welcome you back soon at Parador! Best wishes of PURA VIDA!
