Absolutely beautiful, perfectly located, clean, awesome views, amazing pools, paradise gardens.

Excelent food, wonderful service. All staff is brilliant and well trained, except for the Guest Service Manager, she is less talented than line employees -she had some ugly details and was not at the expectations level-.

Laundry machines and driers at the guest use for reasonable price, very thankful!.

Good tours to enjoy the area.

We heard about HP from a CR tour group operator. We decided to not go on the group trip but still stay at HP as single travelers. We did use the tour operator to book our room as a thank you for the insights to Hotel Parador... and that thanks doesnt go a long enough way for this excellent out of the way resort.
It is basically a private resort on a private peninsula with a secluded beach, its own wild life, grounds to get lost on - and a massage hut on the cliff wall over the ocean to stumble upon/in and let yourself float away over the waves calming sounds.
Look, what i am saying is that we got all of this and at the price of a hotel! You cannot go wrong here. You can't.
It was both of our birthdays and I asked the hotel directly to do something nice for my travel partner and she was surprised to find our room filled with balloons and a bday welcome of small cakes and candles. They even upgraded us! The direct service form the hotel via phone before arrival and obviously upon arrival was stellar. They brought us juice at the check in and since we arrived late still fed us though the kitchen was closing.
We had a hard time finding the place in the dark of night both the turn off from the main road and the distance down the twisty 'off-road' type road. Yet we awoke to an exotic location and couldn't believe where we had landed. I suggest using google maps or google earth to SEE this location and the roads to it just so you know. (It was the tour operator who failed to give good directions - not the hotel.)
WE liked having a car. We do not suggest walking to/from the hotel - it is a hard long walk regardless of our/your youth. There are taxis 24-7 but I prefer the freedom/flexibility of a car.
Here is my email to the hotel afterward - have fun -
"Ms. S,
We wish to thank you so very much for the WONDERFUL birthday room with balloons, towel animals, flowers, and the view. It was mucho gusto pura vita beautiful stay at your luxury resort. I wish we could have stayed longer. I will send my friends to Parador on their honeymoon in October and tell everyone about it and show them all of our photos of Parador. Thank you again and again.
Love JandP"

El Parador is in a beautiful, if inaccessible location and has all the facilities you might expect. Good pool. OK beach which is a bit of a hike. It was, however, the least appealing of the places we stayed in during our stay in Costa Rica. It may be because we had really enjoyed the lodges/ecolodges and this hotel models itself on more European lines. We found the food pretentious. Over-elaborate sauces - style over content. We both got mild food poisoning and couldn't take the tour we'd booked.

Staff were OK - but lacked the warmth and friendliness we'd found everywhere else. Much more formal.

Maybe it just wasn't for us.

The HOTEL PARADOR reflects the original concept of a Spanish PARADOR-Hotel - it has a huge collection of antiques etc in the lobby and dining room area.

The Hotel is mid size with a beautiful infinity pool and a nice SPA offering a small adult only pool as well. We did enjoy the amenities and complimentary upgrade to a bigger room w/ nice view due to our 10th anniversary .

However, it was quite challenging to receive the service one would expect from a 4+++ hotel. Disappointing to find that the package we paid for (hotel incl. air service) was not provided - since air transportation was cancelled for no reason ( maybe Easter Sundy was not a good day for the pilot ?) we did request multiple times a refund for the 4x tickets purchased through the hotel - almost 6 mths later NO REPLY NOR REFUND -- several phone calls were not answered - just very disappointing customer AFTER Service - would have recommended the Hotel but would certainly not stay again..

While well know as one of the best hotels in Quespos, Parador was the most disappointing hotel of my 3 three trips down to Costa Rica.

We booked 6 nights but check out after 4 due to confusion of room availability (having to move to lesser quality) and over priced food/drinks.

The hotel/compound is set on a point off the Quepos mainland that is nothing short of stunning ( the location was best part of our stay). However the decor is tattered Pirates of the Caribbean part VII. Parador is marketed as a boutique hotel but is not, its much more of a 'fat cat' golf hotel (w/o a golf course). The ground were well maintained and all the staff was very attentive, but the management team would/could not accommodate us after 4 nights; nor entice us from leaving. (Having worked on the business side of resort hotels, I learned you never let a guest leave if you still have beds) Cosa Verde was happy to have us.

The food was fine w/ a touch of Costa Rican flair, but homogenized for a suburban American clientele; and very over priced. (lunches w/ two drinks were running >$60.00).

The sort walk to the local beach was a disappointment too, the beach nor the walk was well maintained and rumored to be 'unsafe'. As an alternate we choose to take the 30 min shuttle ride to Beach #1 (playa) at MA; better beach, better food. Also, due to tremendous construction on the road leading to Parador, it was a dangerous walk out to the main Quepos road; so you are pretty isolated out at the end of the punta. (but that may change in time)

All that said, if you want to be isolated on a tattered kitschi compound, and over charged for mediocre Costa Rican food, then Parador is for you. For a true boutique hotel in Quepos try Mankada or Miraposa.
