What can I say about Roy Orozco that hasn’t already been said? We have been bird-watching all over the world, but have rarely – if ever – encountered a nature guide with such a passion for his country and its wildlife, especially its birds.

We booked trips to Savegre, Carara, Esquipulas, and Los Cusingos, but Mr Orozco also showed us much more along the way, taking the time to seek out our target species, whether or not they were in the location we had booked.

He has a great sense of humour; he was always on time, and his prices were very reasonable.
The depth of his knowledge about the plants and insects, as well as birds, was impressive, and his honesty, on the very few occasions when he did not know the answer to one of our questions, was refreshing.

We would recommend Mr Orozco as a guide for anyone with an interest in wildlife who wants to get the best out of a visit to Costa Rica.

Our group spent a lovely morning on Roy's tour. His scientific knowledge of native birds, mammals, flowers, and insects was immense, and was well supported by his Ipad illustrations and his quick zoom lense on a scope attached to a tripod. For example, he showed us (by his zoom lense), a hummingbird's tiny nest with several baby bird becks and heads peeping over edge of hummingbird nest. Whenever we wanted a photo, he assisted taking the close up shot through his scope. Those photos actually turned out great!

My family and I had the good fortune to have Ray as our guide at Manuel Antonio Park on a recent trip to Costa Rica. Roy was extremely knowledgeable and very kind. We had a great time and we would highly recommend his tour.

Roy was our nature guide in Manual Antonio National Park. Although the area was quite crowded, Roy was able to hang back and take his time. This allowed us to see some of the wildlife that other guides were rushing right past. We were able to see many animals, including three troupes of monkeys, sloths, and the prized and rare toucan. I think we were on of only two groups who saw them that day because of the expertise and patience of Roy. Roy specializes in birds, and his wealth of knowledge made the tour much more interesting that just sightings. We highly recommend going with Roy on any tour of Costa Rica. Wonderful guy, wonderful time.

"You see what you know" is a statement with a lot of truth. Walking through the jungle on the way to a beautiful stretch of beach in Manuel Antonio National Park would have just been a pleasant walk without Roy to point out the multitude of hidden wildlife camoflouged amazingly. I am the tour chairman for LA Garden Club Federation and it was very important to me that we learned new things. The group of 16 was very knowledgeable and Roy was able to relate to them and be an awesome teacher on a high level discussing family groups of plants and scientific names of species. He knew a wide variety of plants, animals and birds. His English was strong enough to be easily understood. He would set up his telescope and then we would all see it or take a picture through his scope. We booked our three tours through him and he was prompt, pleasant and very imformative. He provided a healthy and delicious snack at the beach, while some of us swam and others rested, and then he led us to a good resturant. He made a recommendation for our evening meals that we were well satisfied with and picked us up the next morning for the Villa Vanilla Spice Tour and the Mangrove Tour. Overall, we had an outstanding experience. I highly recommend contacting him to do any of your tours. We also visited his souviner shop featuring his art as well as several other local artists and secured great souvineers that were authintic to Costa Rica and not chintsy.
