if you are in Manuel Antonio, do not miss out Raphaels. The owners are super friendly and they have a fairly wide menu. We wanted traditional CR food and they made it for us (we are vegetarian and they improvised too). The prices are nominal (you will pay 2x for an Ocean view restaurant like this in the U.S). Highly recommend.

Our guide recommended this restaurant for dinner and as it happened, we were 500 meters from our hotel to Raphael's. The view looked out over the ocean and we dined outside on the patio.

When we first sat down I wasn't expecting to see so many seafood dishes. We had been told that this was a traditional Costa Rican restaurant so my mind went to beans and rice. So silly on my part. I ordered the whole fried snapper with green plantains and salad. My husband ordered the grouper I think was the fish with potatoes.

In short, this was an incredible meal. To end the meal, we opted for the brownie which was simple and yet really tasty as well. We enjoyed every bit of the experience and the price was very reasonable. We would recommend this restaurant to anyone and really wish we had known before dining at more expensive, more advertised restaurants with half the quality and taste!

One of our most memorable experiences in Costa Rica! We happened upon Giovanni while looking for a place to stay. He recommended Cabinas Espadrille which we loved. We went back to the restaurant to thank him and boy were we in for a treat. The ambiance, service and food were outstanding! We wished we had seen the sunset from this restaurant because the view was incredible. Giovanni was pleasant and helped us with our ordering. I had the filet mignon and my husband had the sea bass. Both entrees were excellent. The side dishes that accompanied the meals were equally delicious. For dessert we went with the banana split which we found to be amazing. We found the prices to be very reasonable. We wanted very much to come back a second time but were not able to as they were closed on Monday. In addition, Giovanni brought ice and a linen, twice, as I had hurt my arm earlier in the day. We thoroughly enjoyed watching the staff in action as each individual took pride in their work. If you want your restaurant to be a five star, send your staff here. Highly recommend.

During our week stay in the area we had two dinners at Raphael's. Had a group of five including three early twenty year old girls with us. We all agreed the dining experience was top-notch. Great atmosphere with an open air dining area with about 8 tables plus a patio with additional seating and music. The food was excellent (tuna / mahi-mahi) and prices reasonable for the area. Very good Sangria's as well. The restaurant is a family run business and they provided both friendly and very good service. Would definitely visit again on a future trip to the area.

Love it so much, we had to come back. Ceviche was fresh, grilled fish tacos were excellent, and the coconut flan was worth coming back again and again! The iguana on the roof added to the party. Raphael and his brothers have killed it!
