Good quality food in a great setting, with polite and attentive staff. The food is not cheap by local standards, but well worth it. What more could you ask for?

….so that you can go again! It's THAT good. We ate at several restaurants in Manuel Antonio during our stay (all good) but this was streets ahead in every respect. Also try to go early if you can, because the sun sets around 5.45pm and it is spectacular. We stayed on the ocean side of the street at Tulemar which boasts it's own amazing views, but high up on the hillside produces a panorama that must be one of the best vantage points for sunset in the entire area. We ate at La Luna on two consecutive nights and the food, service and general experience were impeccable both times. Aldo and Mario took care of us and they were wonderful. The service is really top-notch. The two-piece band was an unexpected treat with gentle music wafting over us as we dined. The food is a cut-above anything else we sampled during our stay, over the course of two days we had steak, fish, chicken, delicious appetizers (the gorgonzola tart and the mango and squash soup were outstanding) and decadent desserts including the lava cake. As another reviewer mentioned, the restaurant gladly agreed to make quesadillas (which wasn't on the menu) for my kids. That kind of above and beyond service, as well as the little attention to detail things like palette cleansers between courses makes La Luna an absolutely MUST VISIT. Thank you all for ending our vacation on such a high note.

I went 2 nights in a row to the sunset Happy Hour and it made me so Happy!!
The appetizers are yummy especially the ceviche. It was the best we had. Lots of lime and big pieces of fish. The cocktails were delicious! The view is from one of the highest points in Manuel Antonio and is a completely unobstructed ocean view!

We are thrilled you enjoyed our wonderful happy hour for tapas and our 2x1 cocktails.

La Luna is a local favorite with local residents as well as outside guests. And with the best sunset in all of Manuel Antonio, we never disappoint with the overall experience.

We spent the week after our wedding with friends in Manuel Antonio and stayed at Parador in Punto Quepos. At the recommendation of a friend who had recently visited we decided to try La Luna which was a short drive from where we were staying. We were greeted by the guys working the entrance who helped us park and called a golf cart to bring us up to the restaurant. We had a large group of 8 and no reservations so we sat in the bar lounge while are table was ready.

The view from the restaurant was amazing, even at night you could see all the beaches and ocean, as well as boats out in the water. I can't wait to come back during lunch time or sunset. There were some cell towers in the distance, but nothing that the restaurant could do anything about. We ordered pre-dinner drinks and they were all outstanding. I think we all ordered off their local menu to try some new drinks and absolutely no complaints around. Mostly we were asking each other to try them since they were so good.

The table took a little long to get ready seeing as there weren't that many guests at 9pm, maybe 15 minutes. By then we had finished our drinks anyway so it was good timing. Each couple ordered another drink or wine and an appetizer per couple, as well as main courses. My wife and I got a Chilean Carmenere which was really good if you like dry reds like we do, although they had a big selection so they would have had something for anyone. One friend got a glass of Pinot Grigio and she really liked that as well.

Before appetizers they brought us a palette cleanser of cucumber and mangoes with a balsamic reduction which was a great start and also presented really well. Appetizers came out quickly with two couples getting ceviche, one salad, and one soup. My wife is from Costa Rica so we are sorta ceviche snobs and this was really different from the typical ceviche but also really good. Where traditionally it's very wet with lime juice, this was served dry with a creamy sauce to pour on top. It was really good and I enjoyed that they had done something different and a little more upscale. It was definitely better looking!

After appetizers they brought another palette cleanser of sorbet which just makes the whole place seem classier. Main Courses came and we had ordered (as a group) the tuna, ribs, spicy pasta with clams, pasta with shrimp. Ribs were falling off the bone tender, tuna was thick and cooked rare on the inside like its supposed to be, and the pasta dishes were just amazing. My clam dish was a great mix of Latin and Italian flavors and just spicy enough. My wife got the shrimp pasta and cleaned her plate as well. The portions were perfect after sharing the appetizer and we were all stuffed and cleaned our plates. Sadly this didn't leave any room for dessert and we all wished we had tried either the lava cake or these dessert ravioli they were making out of thin pineapple. No pasta... just pineapple skin. It sounded really weird but good with a sweet ricotta filling.

Amazing meal... and we actually expected it to be a lot more expensive. For how great the food was and how beautifully it was presented I was expecting a much higher price. I think my clam main course was only $15 and my wife's shrimp maybe $18. Of course with wine and drinks we spent more but overall we would go back in a second.
