“MUST for couples!”
Reviewed March 14, 2013

Ten days in Costa Rica and this was BY FAR our favorite restaurant! The food and the ambience are enough to put it at the top but the VIEW puts it over the edge!! Seriously! If you are in M.A. you MUST go tot his restaurant and do NOT bring the kids!! Older ones are ok but NOT little ones. We got a sitter at the hotel and enjoyed this for our date night. It was PERFECT!

Thank you for your very kind review of our La Luna Restaurant at Gaia Hotel & Reserve.

We are very happy you were able to experience a very relaxing and romantic evening with us. We try to make everyone's experience here at La Luna a memorable one and it appears we have achieved that with you.

We do in fact welcome families with young children for lunch and dinner and we have never had a problem with children who were misbehaved. We are blessed and very happy to welcome them from neighboring hotels.

Thank you for sharing your wonderful experience on this TripAdvisor forum. Please come back and visit us!

“Exquisite”
Reviewed March 14, 2013

Everything from the service, the atmosphere, the drinks, the food.. everything.. was exquisite and completely 5 star! I had the tuna and it was cooked to perfection. We ate here on the last night of our vacation, and I wish we would've found it sooner! Next time we are in Manuel Antonio we will definitely go back, and we want to try their sunset tapas. Don't miss!

“Over La Luna dining”
Reviewed March 14, 2013

La Luna is an extraordinary service experience. From the very beginning of our special birthday evening they excelled at service and service recovery.
One of the unique aspects of the restaurant is that you park your car and are driven the last several hundred meters in a golf cart. Our cart was almost out of power so they had to bring a replacement cart down to meet us and take us the last half of the trip.

When you get to the restaurant entrance you are shown to a shiny elevator that takes you the last flight of the trip.
What greets you as you exit the elevator is an ultra modern white table cloth restaurant with elegantly dressed wait staff.

Our waiter , once we were seated, immediately apologized for the golf cart problem and insisted on buying us a drink for our troubles. How did he know? Their attention to detail!!

The meals were both a gustatory delight and a treat for the eyes. Everything was cooked to perfection and showed their commitment to doing things with real class. During the course of the evening we were served by at least 6 different servers.
Another nice touch was offering a taste of the wine with the second glass of wine when they switch of bottles.

If there is any negative it is that the two piece combo was a tad too loud for us to have a quiet conversation. When we mentioned it the problem was fixed immediately.

Caution, save this for special occasions. It is too memorable not to attach something like an anniversary or birthday to it.

It was an evening to remember and service we will never forget. The food and service sets a new standard of elegance.

“Wonderful view, delicious food”
Reviewed March 10, 2013

We loved it - even my picky eater teenagers enjoyed the fantastic ribs. Go on the weekends, they have a nice price fixe menu (4 courses, $30). Tuna was the nest I have ever had. Also, great live music - guitarist, incredible view too. Enjoy!

Excellent! We are truly glad you discovered our new weekend special menu. From Thursday through Saturday evening we have our new $30 four course menu.

Each week we change up the menu so everyone, including our local neighbors, can enjoy the wide variety of what we have to offer.

And besides our extremely popular continental menu selection, we have a wide variety of comfort foods from which to choose.......

Thank you for your visit and thank you for sharing your experience on this TripAdvisor forum.

“Exceptional food & service, just a few quirks”
Reviewed March 10, 2013

Although we didn't stay at the hotel, we had dinner there March 6th. What a night! Sun sets at about 5:30pm, so we arrived at 5pm to enjoy the amazing view! To get there, they take you on a quick golf chart/shuttle ride up the hills to the restaurant, fun trip. The view from the restaurant is nothing short of amazing! Happy hour is 4-6pm, with 2 for 1 drink specials and delicious tapas menu (tuna was fresh, delicious sauce, and free plantane chips are served). The only quirk of the night came when our server told us that the policy for the 2 for 1 drinks was that you had to have the exact same drink - a bit bizzare, most times it's just "equal of lesser value drink is free". They really had issues with an exception for us, but in the end, the bill ended up having some errors a few drinks were free! All's well that ends well?

The dinner portion of the night was spectacular. Live music plays as the incredibly attentive staff top up wine, water, bring complementary amuse buche etc. The portions were very fair (not quite as huge as the surprises we had elsewhere in costa rica, but still great value). The cost of the dinners were on par with other 'tourist' restaurants in Manuel Antionio ($15-20 each), but the VIEW and 5 STAR SERVICE take it to another level!

Tips -

It's about a $10 cab ride from far end of Manuel Antonio (Hotel San Bada), which are all easy to get.

Reservations were recommended by the staff, but the place wasn't more than 60% full from 5:30-8pm, so I don't expect they are mandatory.

Wine menu is comprehensive and fairly priced. There were $30 options all the way to $150+.

Thank you for your kind review of our restaurant.

It appears you had one beautiful night taking in the sunset, tapas, cocktails and dinner.
I am sorry about the confusion on the 2x1 cocktails but it does appear you made out in the end nicely.

We do indeed have the very best sunsets in the surrounding area having our restaurant located on top of Gaia Mountain which as you mention is reached via Eco-friendly golf carts.
We feel for the service and ambiance we provide coupled with the suburb cuisine, our prices are more than fair. Thank you for mentioning that also.

Please come back to La Luna the next time you are in the area. We would very much like to host you one more time.
