The location is on top of a mountain and you are taken by a golf cart to the top. The view is spectacular. They have a great happy hour with drinks and food specials. The experience is top notch. The service is excellent and there was music when we went. The price of the food is excellent for what you get...

Thank you for your wonderful review.

Others on this TripAdvisor as well as our staff welcome such kind words.

Sunset is indeed one of the best experiences here at La Luna Restaurant at Gaia Hotel & Reserve.

Everyone is welcome. So, come by around 4 :30 PM and take a comfortable seat, choose one of our famous 2x1 cocktails and indulge in one of our $2 or $3 tapas.

The best is yet to come when the sun sets over the Pacific. It is a sight you will not soon forget.

We dined here as non-residents & were exceptionally impressed by the quality of the food & service, from our reception at the gate to the staff in the actual restaurant.

The choice of menu was particularly good & we got all the 'extras' like amuse bouche & sorbet that you expect from a top quality restaurant. The service was also first rate - efficient & unobtrusive.

You are ferried up to the main hotel building by golf buggy where you enter an industrial style lift to reach the restaurant. The building itself would have been the height of modernity in the 70s but its structure now resembles a cold concrete office block that the interior designers have attempted to soften with planting etc. The restaurant looks out over the beach & the tables are staged to take advantage of this position. However on the evening we went, it was dark by 5.00pm so by the time we sat down to eat, we looking into a black pit (not like the sunset photos on here!) & we were not the only ones to turn our chairs to face into the restaurant itself rather than out across the darkness. To add to this impersonal atmosphere, on our initial arrival, there was piped Latino music playing over very poor speakers that only added to our impression that we were in a disused factory & seemed to cast an air of despondency. Matters improved 200% when a local duo (guitar & bongos) began to play well known pieces.
Note to management - reposition the seating in the dark evenings & cut the piped rubbish. I will then give you 5 stars as your chef is terrific!

Thank you for your compliments on our food, service and live music.

We invite you to return during tapas and happy hour when the sunset is the very best around. The sun sets at 5:50 PM and folks gather in our Ambar Lounge starting at 4:30 PM.

Indeed, it does get dark around 6:00 PM and being in the middle of the rainforest, there are no street lights around to look at.

But our guests then enjoy the beautiful stars and have fun picking out the constellations. And the view of Venus is there for everyone to enjoy every night.

If you want to get a little dressed up, this would be the place for you although a lot of people were dressed casually. White tablecloths and a beautiful view of the sunset all add to the ambience. I personally like receiving a small remken of sorbeil to cleanse my palate- this may sound snobbish but it seems to go with a good restaurant. The chef's dishes are inventive and beautifully presented. Our bill was less than $100 with one drink each- a little more expensive than most restaurants in the area but well worth the money.

Thanking our recent guest for recognizing what La Luna is all about........

Great Food - Great Service - Great Prices - Flip-Flops Welcome!

While some guests like to dress up a bit for Tapas and dinner , we are a very casual establishment finding even the owners wearing shorts and sandals in the evening. Everything goes as they say!

We recognize guests are on vacation and should expect to feel comfortable.

Thank you for visiting us and we welcome you back inn the near future.

Don't miss watching the beautiful sunset from this great restaurant! Come for happy hour for half price appetizers and 2 for 1 drinks before the sun sets and then enjoy their fabulous dinner. We had breakfast here everyday and loved drinking the various juices and the wonderful empanadas!

Everyone who visits our La Luna Restaurant marvels about the breathtaking views for sunset. We do believe we have the best views around.

We invite all local and guests to experience the wonderful 2x1 cocktails during Tapas between 4:30 PM and 6:00 PM and enjoy the sunset. The "green flash" has even been spotted several times!

Welcome - you will not be disappointed!

We went to La Luna restaurant in the Hotel Gaia twice during our stay in Manuel Antonio and loved it both times. We stayed at a nearby villa, but the hotel restaurant is open to non guests for everything but breakfast: lunch, tapas, dinner. While not on the beach, the restaurant does have a lovely sunset view. Both times, the service was impeccable, the food superb and the background music provided by guitar/ bongo duo was excellent. I highly recommend the Gaia Hose Salad and the homemade ravioli. My husband had seafood on both occasions and said it was delicious. Don't pass up dessert: the homemade ice cream and sorbet and the lime pie are all very good. Go a little early for happy hour ( drinks 2 for 1) and the sunset which occurs around 5:30 to 6:00 pm in January.
