The room odor was as if we could have been housed over a huge septic tank. The bathroom was beautiful and the shower head reminded me of the Seinfeld show where Cramer bought the shower used to wash elephants.

The hotel, on the 6th floor (a floor with no guestrooms), offers a scenic view of the Pacific and visual treats such as colorful birds and lazy iguanas in the trees. Tiny bats sleep in a small area above the 6th floor elevator. There are lots of wonderful seating/lounging chairs up there. Great place to enjoy a drink and read a book.

There is no coffee maker in the room. They offer coffee on the 6th floor, starting at 6, but they did not have many cups available at that time. The Manuel Antonio National Park gates open at 7, so there were many people up there at 6 to get coffee before going to the park gate.

There was no clock in the room and no refrigerator. They did have a hairdryer. We had sliding glass doors there and many of us, upon checking in, found them unlocked. They also had a room safe. From conversations with others, all shower stalls were wheelchair accessible. There was no tub.

The buffet we had was offered through Caravan Tours, so I never saw a menu for others to order. The food was very good. The water in the restaurant is safe to drink, but I would recommend only bottled water in the room. The hotel provided two small bottles of water.

It is the nicest hotel at the entrance to the park. It takes about 20-23 minutes of trekking from the gate to get into the park paths and the beach. Go early. By 9 a.m., it starts to look crowded like Disneyland and gets hot. In the park, there are two restroom buildings and changing rooms for the beach. They are not lighted, so take a flashlight.

Room Tip: Maybe a higher floor (we were on the bottom floor) could escape the smell that our room had.

We stayed at this hotel as part of our Caravan Tour. We had a free cocktail hour on the 6 floor pool deck.
The tunnel to beach go to a alleyway that is lined with vendors stalls. Next you come across a beach road. Along this street is various shops included a small grocery store.
There was no coffee maker in the room. There was no frig in the room . Although free bottle water was available .
There was a breakfast buffet with a egg station for eggs your way.
There was a souvenir shop at the hotel.

We had a great one-night stay at this lovely hotel beside Manuel Antonio National Park as part of a Costa Rica tour. Our room was large, but there were some problems with the beside lighting not having individual controls. Food at our tour-included buffet was good but in no way exceptional.
We were on the back of the hotel, and we enjoyed seeing and hearing the howler monkeys from our balcony. But some people might prefer a less raucus awakening at 4:30 a.m. Wifi access was impossibly slow in my room, but there was a business center with two computers.

Hotel San Bada has the best location, walking distance to park, beach, and shopping. We were upgraded to an Ocean view room and it was so romantic and beautiful. Clean rooms, both the adult pool and the main pool were beautiful. Free breakfast and wifi. The breakfast was very nice buffet style something for everyone. Friendly and helpful staff. We had a very relaxing time at this hotel and would stay again.

This hotel is directly in front of the entrance to the park. Also, its only a 3 minute walk to the beach. The rooms are OK, Not luxurious. There is a pretty roof top pool, free wifi and a decent breakfast. This is a decent place to stay if you are looking for location. It's clean and convertible

Room Tip: Choose a room on a higher floor

My husband and nine-year old daughter and I loved everything about our stay here. The main pool and slide are perfect if you are bringing kids. Everything was excellent- the breakfast, lunch menu, and our room. The hotel is very close to Espadilla Beach and the national park. We had a very relaxing time and would stay here again!

Firstly I was upgrade to the 5th floor which meant I had a sea view. Then I discovered the top floor had a pool and bar that served large snacks - and no children permitted on this floor.
The hotel is very near the beach and right next door to the park giving easy access to the flora and fauna of this area. Despite the mass of people that go into the park there is guaranteed viewing of wildlife and one can get away from the crowds by simply following the well marked paths a few extra 100 metres or so.
The food was good and the staff reasonably friendly. The hotel seems to accommodate a large number of Americans, mainly elderly - I met some very interesting characters. Facilities for children include a fun pool with slide.
I would certainly return to this hotel given the opportunity.

Room Tip: 5th floor only
