we arrived at the end of our Caravan Tour and stayed on for four more days ! marvellous location,5 mins to walk to the Natl Park, 5 mins walk to the beach. the staff at the hotel were outstanding carrying out their duties and services. our bedroom on the 5th floor beautiful, with gorgeous views of the ocean.fun to walk around Manuel Antonio and Quepos. Maryalin Villegas, Res. Mgr. suggested and arranged for us to take a local flight back to San Jose intl airport, what a pleasureable experience that was, seeing all the places we had visited on our Caravan Tour. we are planning to go back to San Bada again next year, we loved it so much. John and Claudia McNamara.

Room Tip: high floor for ocean view.

We came as part of Caravan hotel. the rooms are very simple, decent bed and shower. The attraction is the hotel is at the entrance to Manuel Antonio park. The beach is also less than 10 minutes away. Every night they have 5pm-6pm open bar, with mix drinks and cocktails. they have small pool and a very good dinner and breakfast. They have more then just beans and rice.

I wanted to make sure to review San Bada, as this was our first trip to Costa Rica. What a great country, we loved the people, the rainforest, the animals, beaches, and just about everything, even the typical beans and rice breakfast!

We stayed at San Bada 3 nights, and it is a simple yet lovely hotel, it seemed to be one of the nicer hotels in the area, I believe it is only 3 years old. They are doing quite a bit of construction to improve the property at this time. We booked a basic room and were upgraded at arrival! Thanks Marilyn!

The proximity is also good, being next to the national park entrance. Please make sure to visit the entire park, it really is beautiful, and so are the beaches. The breakfast was great in the mornings, and the hotel is walking distance to any restaurants on the beach or nearby that you might want to go to. Or you can also take a cab; it's not very expensive at all. Everything is safe, do not act like an uninformed tourist, and you should be fine.

The reviews about the hot water going away around 6pm are true, if you want a really hot shower, try to shower on off hours. Also, bring your bug spray, this hotel has an amazing 6th floor adult only cocktail area that is open air, and it is great to go up and watch the sunset, but it's in the middle of the rainforest so bring the spray so you can enjoy your time.

I did want to make a note that our 3 day, when we were checking out, we had a problem with our rental car, and the hotel went above and beyond in accommodating us, and letting us use our room until 4pm the same day; they had no obligation to do any of this. They also arranged a private shuttle to take us an hour up the road to our next hotel last minute, and it really was a treat, as our driver stopped at a famous overlook at sunset and took a photo of my husband and I. We left the rental behind for the rental company to handle and fix.

Thanks again San Bada crew!!

The people that work here are really great Costa Ricans; they are hardworking, and great to get to know. I encourage you to talk to you bartender, or the front desk people, get to know them. They are all amazing!

Thanks again San Bada for a great time!

We stayed in the Hotel San Bada as part of a tour group, the hotel seems like it is going through some renovations. The manager is very active with the hotel and is always around. The rooms are simple , and the views are really non existent unless you are on the 5th floor. The 6th floor bar is very nice, with great views. It is a two minute walk to the park, and about ten minutes to the beach. Not a bad choice, but don't expect this hotel to be more than a basic stop.

Room Tip: Try to get a room on the 5th floor.

Dear Guest!

Thank you for your recent visit and staying at our Resort!

Yes indeed... you review title is accurate we are trying... to become one of the best Hotels in the area and Costa Rica. For that reason is that we are under constant renovations, we think that we must keep dynamic according to the new concepts of comfort, accessibility and quality.

The renovations you saw were among our accessibility works, we want that all our Hotel area can be accessed easily by all the guests, this means that any person with any kind of physical impediment can move around without problems. We are sorry if these works cause you any inconvenience, but we think this works cannot be postponed.

We are trying... to become the best Hotel in the area, and for that reason we hired the best staff, we thank you that you recongized this by mentioning our F&B Manager . All our staff strives to give the highest service possible. We are sad that due to the short stay you could not experience what staying at San Bada is all about!

We noticed that you stayed at Standard Room 1st Floor, as it is described in our website, it is not an ocean view room, it has garden view. However, it has its charming, with high wood ceilings, wood bed heads, spacious bathrooms with rainy shower, safety deposit box, hairdryer, complimentary WiFi, telephone... in regards to the ocean view it is easily forgotten as all the guests are welcomed to go to the 6th floor and enjoy the best ocean views that can being seen in the Hotel.

Thanks again for sharing you experience and we hope you can give us a second change to host you in Paradise and make your vacations a memorable time!

Sincerely,

Your friends at Hotel San Bada

We were only at the hotel for one night so did not complain about a few minor issues with the room. I thought there was a bird nest in the room on top of one of the pictures, but it was just a huge, thankfully already dead spider. Our safe was broken, lots of other small issues with the room, but good place for one night. Had to use all the towels on the floor since the shower leaked around the outside. Enjoyed drinks on the 6th floor for the views. Small patio on the first floor, but no place to sit and nothing to see so it did not matter to us. One person in our group complained and was moved up to the 4th floor which did have a nice view (so she said.) Walk to the beach is only a few minutes down the hill through a smelly tourist gauntlet, but nice beach! Not sure about the price of the room since we were on a Caravan Tour. Towels were provided to take to the beach in Manuel Antonio ($10 per person entrance fee)

Room Tip: Try to avoid the first (noisy) and second floors. There are limited ocean views. Spend some time o...

Dear Guest!

Thank you for sharing your review in this forum. We were a little bit surprised at first sight reading your review title and then reading the content.

We are sad to hear that you our hotel did not meet your expectations as our goal is to provide a superior product and high quality service and hospitality. As we remember, our staff was more than attentive and helpful to immediately fix all your concerns, moreover we decided to apologize and sent you a letter. We are sorry that our sincere thoughts and apologies were not sufficient.

Our baths were renovated and we do also check everything prior guests arrivals, however as we are in the tropics and right next to the jungle, there are possibilities of non expected insects that can pass our eye control. For our tripadvisor readers we carry on an exhaustive bug and pest control throughout the year using non toxic chemicals friendly with the environment.

We are also proud of our location as our guests enjoy the closeness to the National Park and the Beach. The path to the beach goes through a souvenir alley, that is not under the Hotel maintenance, this is under the local goverment control, but we did many improvements compared to previous years. We will definately work together for a nicer alley and always safe as nowadays. This closeness to the National Park is a great plus to many travelers, but we are sad that you rated us with 3 out of 5 points.

We hope we can contribute in the future to give you a remarkable experience at our Hotel and for that we would love from you a second chance to host you in Paradise!

As I forgot to mention, Manuel Antonio is considered the best beach in Costa Rica, and one of the 12 most beautiful National Parks around the World (2011 Forbes Magazine)

Sincerely,

Your friends at Hotel San Bada

Stayed here over Christmas. Upgraded to a suite on arrival. Rooms were very good and cleaned to a good standard. Food was very good in the restaurant and sensibly priced. Pool on the 6th floor was very good and the views were fantastic. If you want a hotel near to the national park I recommend this hotel

Very large hotel directly next to National Park. Seems to cater to big groups. Two pools including one on the rooftop for people over age 18. Very close to beach. Good breakfast buffet. Huge, clean rooms. Has spa facilities.

Room Tip: Upper floors might have less noise.
