Casa Alegria is an absolutely stunning property in a very central location in Manuel Antonio, right from the start of the booking process with Michael you know you are going to be looked after right up until the second you leave!
Sani and the Household staff are amazing, they are so warm and welcoming and on hand to make your holiday as smooth and fuss free as possible.
The views are spectacular from the balconies but the views you get from within the garden are really what makes this house outstanding, we had 2 Sloths living in the trees right outside, Monkey's visiting twice a day, Lizards sunbathing by the pool, Toucans and Aracari tapping on the windows - we saw more in the garden than we saw in the National Park!
We are a couple who travelled here with our Friends and their 3 Children, the house was everything we needed and more, the pool was a very welcome feature, although central in Manuel Antonio, it is quite a steep hill heading towards the restaurants, shops etc. it was very hot whilst we were there so a cool down was just what's needed after a hike!
We were so sad to leave Casa Alegria - I cannot recommend it enough, Pura Vida!

“Great house/great week!”
Reviewed March 17, 2017 for a stay in March 2017

My five girlfriends and I rented this house for a week and had a great time! Sani helped us so much from stocking the fridge to booking our tours. He also gave an unforgettable private tour day to waterfalls and a beach where we same in ocean caves. A canopy zipline tour and rafting trip are a must and located only a short drive away. The wildlife at this house is amazing! We saw monkeys everyday and a sloth lived in a tree right outside the window. The beach is a short downhill walk. I do not advise renting a car. The driving is scary and there are plenty of taxis. This was the best trip!!!!!

“Amazing, Unforgettable Experience!!!”
Reviewed February 28, 2016 for a stay in February 2016

We just returned from the best vacation we have ever been on. Casa Alegria was amazing and more than we could have ever expected. There is just so much that made is so special. The house itself is spectacular and was spacious for our family. The decks are great and provide breathtaking views of the ocean; beautiful waking up to that view. The decks are also a great place to watch the monkeys, sloths, toucans and more! Our trip was made great by the house manager, Sani. He helped us plan all of our excursions and made great recommendations to us. He even took us one day on his own private tour where we hiked, swam in waterfalls, went to the beach and saw the coolest caves ever. Truly incredible. We hope to visit again. Pura Vida indeed!!!

“Off the charts experience, one of a kind accommodations. A perfect 10.”

I have to admit, I rarely write reviews but Casa Alegria and our experiences we had while staying there blew us away in every way. We traveled for spring break (2015) with our two children ages 9 and 12 and stayed at Casa Alegria for a week. Looking back on our year, Casa Alegria and Manuel Antonio was the highlight for each one of us and we can't wait to go back. The Villa's breathtaking views and location are spectacular. The rainforest and wildlife that surround Casa Alegria make it a unique Costa Rican experience. Monkeys came daily to our pool and balconies, three sloths resided in trees in Casa Alegria's backyard, toucans perched on the windowsills and with the help of Juan Ra, who tended to CA's grounds, we were able to see a rare Kinkajou that was only 15 feet from the pool resting high up in a tree. Completely unique to the property's location, our interactions with the Costa Rican wildlife made for a mind blowing and incredibly special experience for the whole family! I can't say enough about the Villa and all the luxurious comforts the home provides where you truly feel at home, but Sani was the one who made our stay a spectacular one in every way. Sani took great care to organize all of our excursions and each and every one of his recommendations were incredible. Sani knows the reputation of each adventure company in the area and so whomever he recommends, you can trust he is putting you in caring and professional hands. From his breathtaking self led trip to "Sani Falls" and the Playa Ventanas tidal caves (favorite day!) to our canopy tour with El Santuario (the ONLY canopy tour to take) our white water rafting with Pro Rafting Costa Rica (we LOVED them) and the guide he recommended for our tour of Manuel Antonio National Park (this is a MUST do!) all exceeded our expectations. Sani's thoughtful planning took care of every detail, which allowed us to totally unwind and just have fun! We would head out in the morning for a trip or tour and then relax all afternoon poolside watching the animals play in our backyard. Sani's restaurant recommendations were spot on, just what we were looking for (he and his lovely wife Lilli are chef/foodies themselves). Our favorite restaurant recommendation in the area was Ernie's, which offers Flamenco dancing at night, the best coffee in the AM and is very close to Casa Alegria. There aren't enough words to express how much we loved our stay at Casa Alegria and count the days to our return. The prime location of Casa Alegria, which is walkable to beach, restaurants, and shops while also being nestled in the heart of the rainforest delivers the best of both worlds. Casa Alegria is the only place we'd ever consider staying in Manuel Antonio. Great family vacation that produced memories we will cherish for a lifetime.

“CHILL OUT TIME with the Costa Rican wildlife”

Our week long stay at Casa Alegria was perfect in every way. We were looked after incredibly well by the staff - including Sani who was there to meet us, show us around and make sure we were absolutely happy. He even took us into Quepos to show us the best shops, bakery, fishmonger, butcher etc. Nothing was too much trouble in arranging trips and tours, phoning everyday to make sure everything was OK. All his recommendations for eating out were spot on. The house itself is very comfortable, and perfect for a complete chill out holiday. Of course one of the main attractions is the garden/jungle and its resident wildlife including, sloths, iguanas, toucans and the cappuccino and squirrel monkeys which visited everyday. (This daily encounter was far more rewarding than the official tours of the national park!) The gardener Juanra is quiet but always there to encourage the monkeys or scare them away if they get to boisterous.

“"Time of our LIVES"”
Reviewed October 8, 2015 for a stay in October 2015

Casa Alegria was GORGEOUS! We had the time of our lives!!! The house was perfect. The staff was amazing. The views were breathtaking.
We were visited each morning by Toucans at the window...peeking in. Then the troop of White Faced Monkeys would come by for a visit. For the entire week we had a 3 Toed Sloth hanging out in the tree by the pool. If there were any critters we were not seeing...Juan the groundskeeper would carefully point out what our eyes were not accustomed to looking for.
Sani, our concierge, treated us as if we were part of his own Family & even went so far as to take us on our own private tour of caves and, waterfalls. It was an unbelievable day!!!!
I fell in LOVE with Costa Rica due to it's own natural beauty but, also due to Casa Alegria and, our wonderful stay in it!
I would HIGHLY recommend it and, HAVE...to many of my closest Friends!!!!
Thank you Costa Rica and, Sani.....we miss you already!!!!

“Monkeys and Sloths!!!! Views!!!! Great place!!!”
Reviewed August 27, 2015 for a stay in August 2015

8 of stayed for a week at Casa Alegria. It was far more than we expected. It was WONDERFUL! We were visited every day by two different troups of monkeys. Capuchins and Squirrel Monkeys. We went thru 15-20 bananas a day. We also had visits from Toucans every day. We had two sloths in trees that we photographed and observed from our balcony and we had Iguanas and Jesus Christ lizards. It was incredible.

The house is lovely. Our rooms and baths were great and the living room and balcony were big enough to accommodate every one for visiting. The pool was lovely and a great end to our day and beginning to happy hour.

We had Chef Lilly in 3 times. She is a wonderful chef and charming woman. Thoroughly enjoyed her meals and conversation.

The house is really not an easy walk to the beach. Take the bus that stops at the end of the drive. 320 Colons well spent. It is uphill all the way back and that is tough after a day at the beach.

Sani our concierge arranged a white water rafting trip with Pro Rafters. They were great and we had a blast.

We also fished, para sailed and zip lined. Some of our group took a tour of Manuel Antonio but we had more wildlife off our balcony than they saw in the park!!

The staff at Casa Alegria were great. Haley our house keeper kept the place up wonderfully and Juan the gardener pointed out the different wildlife. Oh, we also had some big guinea pig like animals. Juan showed them to us and we would feed them too.

If you go to Costa Rica, stay here!!

The only complaint and it is minor was the lack of a working ice maker in the fridge and no ice trays. Sani ended up having to bring ice.
