My husband and I stayed on the 2nd floor with our 10 year old son. We couldn't have picked a better place! Most of the reviews say it all. My husband, who I usually can't get away from the computer, was almost always found outside, swinging in the hammock enjoying the breeze and the squirrel monkeys that would run past almost every day around 8am.

Lorenzo (the owner) was charming and helpful without being the least bit intrusive. He recommended and arrnaged numerous tours. I would agree that blue couches are not for lounging on, but all of us would be on the porch, in the pool or taking a siesta in the air conditioned bedrooms when it was time to relax.

We were the only guests besides Lorenzo staying above us. It truly was like having our own piece of paradise. The condo was nicely decorated, and had the amenities we needed. It did get quite hot without a/c, but again, we went outside or used the air conditioners in the bedrooms. The internet wasn't bad either, one day my son watched a movie thru Amazon when he was tired. I think it may have stopped once or twice, but other than that, it played just fine. We never even turned on the TV, so I can't comment on that. We did bring our IPOD's and portable speakers, but mostly listened to the birds and monkeys.

We are already contemplating returning next year. We were so content, I don't think we would try another place (there are numerous around) knowing how much we enjoyed the house and location.

We rented the entire villa for a week. Laurent answered all of our questions and arranged vans from San Jose airport and tours. We loved the property and the monkeys and sloth that visited us. The location is ideal to walk to restaurants, bars, the grocery store, and cash machine. One person rented a car, which made it easier to buy groceries but all the activities provided their own transportation. Everything was perfect. Because of a family emergency, Laurent was unable to be there but he ensured that Hector took care of us and we had a wonderful vacation. I enjoyed working with Laurent to plan the trip. He was patient and always helpful. Everyone had fun and had high praise for the property. I planned the trip and got nothing but positive feedback.

Room Tip: The penthouse suite in the seven bedroom is the main gathering place so it's best for someone who doesn't plan to retire early or get up too late. Because of all the activitivities, people tended to retire fairly early and get up early so it wasn't really an issue for us.

I would highly recommend this Villa to anyone visiting the Manuel Antonio area. It is in the perfect location with breathtaking views, off the main path, yet close to everything you will need during your stay, including markets, restaurants, and bars. We rented the villa for a week with six couples and there was more than enough room for all of us. It would also be perfect for a family vacation. On a daily basis we swam in the infinity pool and laid in the properties hammocks. Lorenzo was an amazing host who booked our tours, answered all of our questions, and was knowledgeable about the area in general. Would love to return!!!

I highly recommend Villa Manuel Antonio as a terrific place to stay while visiting the Manuel Antonio area of Costa Rica. The Villa is a rather large residential building perched near the top of a hill overlooking the ocean. The complex is gated, includes a beautiful pool with a great view, and is surrounded by a wrap-around porch complete with many hammocks. My group rented the top three floors, which was perfect for a large group. We had full privacy, and essentially the house was ours alone to enjoy. The date of our stay was March 16-25, 2012 – we had beautiful weather, there were hardly any biting insects.
We found the house to be clean and well maintained. A housekeeper refreshed the house, bedrooms and bathrooms, on a daily basis during our stay. There was plenty of space, both indoors and outdoors – we spent a good amount of time just relaxing in the hammocks and the comfortable blue couches. We did most of our own cooking in the full kitchen or gas BBQ (we could easily obtain food and basic groceries from the local markets) and had our meals at the large table on the porch overlooking the ocean. That said, there are many restaurants within walking distance from the house, including a nice coffee shop just down the street. The location is great, many of the restaurants and shops are within walking distance, but there are taxis readily available for longer journeys.
The extensive beach was about a 15 to 20 minute walk down a relatively steep road. The walk was very enjoyable, and my mother, who has had two knee replacements (essentially artificial knees), was able to do it just fine, albeit a somewhat slower pace. If she could do the walk, so can you! We spent a lot of time on the beach, but if you are going in the dry season, make sure you wear sunscreen as the sun was intense. We visited Manuel Antonio National Park, which was nice but a bit crowded, but we actually saw as much wildlife (monkeys, sloths, birds) around the house and on our walks to and from the beach as we did in the Park.
Finally, it is important to mention that the Villa’s owner, Laurent (or “Lorenzo”) was staying in another smaller building on the property while we were there. Laurent was extremely helpful in working with me to arrange our stay in advance, and during our stay, he gave us great information and recommendations about the area. For example, Laurent booked some activities for our group in advance (a peaceful sunset/snorkel cruise on a catamaran, and a zip line trip), and he arranged for transportation back and forth from these (as well as the airport in San Jose – about 3 hrs away). Essentially, Laurent helped make the stay go smoothly and we greatly appreciated it. My entire group and I had fun, and we would all recommend Laurent and his Villa for your trip.
