We were an extended family of 10 - 7yrs to 77yrs - and loved this place. Very fun ambience, great drinks and good (not gourmet but good) food. The staff was very accomodating for our large group with no reservation even though they were packed. Hostess saw how hungry kids were and sat us immediately, working with other patrons who were happy to have a free drink at the bar to wait a little longer. So nice! And of course location is awesome - can't beat it for sunset.

The bar tender at out hotel recommended Barba Roja to us and it was a good recommendation. We wanted a good sunset and it was either this place or Agua Azul. Agua Azul had a snobby attitude when we went to inquire about reservations so Barba Roja it was. No regrets. We are a family of 6 and we had a great table over looking the jungle and ocean. Outstanding sunset.

The food was very good. I had BBQ ribs - really good flavor. Kids has the Marlin and Grouper, both fresh and very good. Civiche was also great. We tried the smoked sausage and they were very tasty too. The waiter (Steven) was quite helpful and got it all right.

We had dinner at Barba Roja one night. Unfortunately we went after dark so we weren't able to catch the sunset or the view from there but we still had a great time. They have a bit of a nautical/pirate theme for their decorations which is kind of cool. We found that they had good variety on their menu; sushi, Tico food, burgers/sandwiches. I had the beef dip sandwich and my girlfriend had a salad and some sushi. All the food was excellent. I would definitely recommend eating here during your time in Manuel Antonio.

My husband and I ate here during our stay in Manuel Antonio. I had the Tico Chopped Salad and it was amazing! We enjoyed watching the sunset over the ocean while we ate. My only complaint would be that the menu was quite limited, so we really didn't have much to choose from. However, we would definitely eat here again if we return to Manuel Antonio in the future!

This place needs to get their act together .. Their menu is not very extensive to engine with , but the night we went , they had even less items on the menu because they had no bread to make the sandwiches . As it was explained to us, because the local bakery is closed on sunday ( that's when we went ) . I guess no one thought of ordering a little more bread on Saturday ? All 4 pfmus finally ordered the burgers ( they had buns for this ) .. The burgers. Were excellent .. But they need to get their act together here .
