“We had Suite 6. It was very private. Great place to stay.”
Reviewed January 30, 2014

When deciding where to stay in Manuel Antonio you have lots of options.
We did our research and decided upon The falls resort as it had a decent price and fantastic location close to Manuel Antonio national park and was on the main road with access to restaurants and bars.

e arrived at the falls resort and parked our car outside, they have a nice little parking section at the front so you can park you car off the main road right the front. We collected our bags and headed to the reception.

Check in was nice and quick and we were then walked to our Suite. We were very happy that we had been given the only single suite on the entire resort and felt like we had our own private cottage in the jungle.

The suites were really well made and had all the makings of a modern hotel room. There was air conditioning, a flat screen tv with DVD player, alarm clock , a fridge , ceiling fan.

We loved the fact that you were isolated at the back of the property with nature

The property itself was laid out really well and everything was close. You could walk from the suite to the pool or bar in about 1 minute or to the restaurant for dinner, this did come in handy during our stay as it was rainy season and just being out in the rain for one minute your soaked.

The hotel had a great bar that served any drink you could think of and Costa rican cocktails. The restaurant served breakfast, lunch and dinner.

It was nice that breakfast each day was including in the rate we paid. Most morning you could have the western menu (friend eggs & potatoes) or go with the local (Gallo pinto) Rice & beans.

The restaurant also had a reasonably priced restaurant in the evenings and we dined here one night

We were really impressed with the falls resort and how close it was to Manuel Antonio national park. We would definately return back to this resort in the future.

The falls resort is located on the main road to Manuel Antonio national park and you can walk to the park from the hotel if you wanted, it will take you about 45 minutes, or you can drive, but you will need to pay for parking when you reach the national park.

Room Tip: If you want privacy ask for room 6. It had no partnering room.

The hotel was very nice and clean. We saw several different groups of monkeys on the hotel grounds. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Restaurant had great food and amazing staff. Our waiter even took the time to make a "miracle" tea for my son who had an ear infection. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone travelling with children. The restaurant was the only one during our travels that had a kid menu. All the staff was amazing!

First of all, if you're still trying to decide if you should go to Costa Rica or a different destination...go to COSTA RICA!! The entire country is amazing and so diverse. You can see gorgeous beaches, mountains, volcanoes, waterfalls, Celeste blue rivers/waterfalls/lagoons, too much wildlife & sea life to list. There's snorkeling, zip lining, ATV tours, waterfall repelling, rainforest day/night hikes, surfing, etc, etc, straight from the farm pineapple, mango, guava and more!
Now, let's talk about Ticos! Ticos are what the locals call themselves. I have never met a nicer bunch of people! SO welcoming and accommodating. Truly the happiest place on earth. They have a true zest for life, or as they say "PURA VIDA!"

Falls
Within minutes of arriving at The Falls Resort, the lush rainforest atmosphere, near the pool/bar was full of Capuchin Monkeys, and even a baby one! It was amazing to see them so close up! They visit several times a week!
We originally had a standard room, but decided to upgrade to a deluxe room. They were booked up our first night, but the next day Jorge (who works in the office) arranged for our belongings to be moved to our new room while we were out. We stayed in room #11 and it was fabulous! I highly recommend upgrading to a deluxe room and, if available, stay in room #11 or #12. Jorge and the women in the office will do whatever they can to make your stay extra bueno!! Oh, and Jorge heard toucans one day when we were at the pool and he hurried out to tell us. We got some amazing photos of 4 toucans that landed in the trees in front of our hotel...very cool!!
"Pepe" and the other waiters are magnificent, and so is "Flounder", the chef! We loved everything we had to eat! They can also tell you where to go if you'd like to play a game of soccer!
Rownye the bartender...woah! He worked so hard serving us fabulous drinks nonstop and even delivered them to the pool. He also made them pretty with umbrellas and flowers :)! Hanging with Rownye at the bar is always a party! Oh, and try the Costa Rican beer "Imperial"--YUM! We were also treated to a special surprise made by one of the staff...he made a totally awesome grasshopper and a flower out what I think were palm-tree leaves! We can't wait to come back and stay here again!
You can walk down the hill to Manuel Antonio beach, but I suggest taking the bus since it's only 285 colones (about 60 cents in US$). The bus drivers are very nice and the buses are clean. Manuel Antonio beach is beautiful. You can rent chairs all day for about $5! One hour massage on the beach for about $30. Look for the Old Señorita selling homemade chicken empanadas on the beach 1000 colones ($2)--YUM! Lots to do on the beach...jet skis, surf lessons, etc. If you really want to relax you can use one of the awesome Beach Waiters all day! Or go across the street to the market and pick up a cooler, ice & drinks, OR there are restaurants/bars/shops if you want to take a break from the beach. The entrance to Manuel Antonio State Park is in walking distance from the beach too. We saw lots of animals in the park, including monkeys and a Mama Sloth with a baby!!
You can also take the bus to Quepos to enjoy shopping, restaurants, bars, and the Pier. You can take snorkeling/boating
tours from the Pier. We went on a fabulous snorkeling tour!
I do wish the wifi would have reached all the way to our room, but we will definitely stay here again!!

Great little hotel. We really enjoyed our stay. Room was very clean and staff was very helpful with booking our excursions. The breakfast was excellent and we really enjoyed the hammock on our patio. I would have given it a 5 except the internet only worked 1 day out of the 4 days we stayed.

We stayed here for 3 days in early January. The outside of the building looks a little rustic and worn but this is a very cozy and comfortable place to stay. We did stay in Room 22 and here are a few things to know about that room:
- there is a funny thing with the water pressure as the toilet sometimes doe not flush very well and the shower is a bit finicky
- the room is on a major walkway/stairway to other rooms and you need to keep your curtains close, however the curtains don't close all the way
- you are above the restaurant which can create early morning noise
- the lighting in the bathroom is not very bright and my wife had trouble doing her make-up
- the walls are thin so you can here the next room when the TV is on
- the room is big and roomy with two double beds

Personally, I would not stay in that room again. However, there are lots of other rooms farther back on the property and they may not have some of the same ones that we had in Room 22. The bar on property is nice and the restaurant has very good food. Breakfast is essentially the same every morning but filling and good. Grounds are beautiful. Close to the park entrance and lots of other restaurants in area. Friendly staff. Good value for the money.

The best of both worlds. Ask for rooms 11 or 12. You have jungle with monkeys, iguanas and birds in front of your balcony. You have a view of the ocean in the distance and you have a first class restaurant with very reasonable prices..we had a great time there for 5 nights and did the usual tourist things. Went deep sea fishing and came back with Mahi Mahi which was prepared in several wonderful dishes by the chef..we would stay there again and again.

Room Tip: Room 11 is the best.

9 of us (adult family) were there in 4 rooms for 3 nights, including New Year's Eve. It was perfect! All rooms were large and beautifully done. Looked out on gorgeous garden--lots of places to sit quietly and read. We ended up eating at the open air restaurant almost every meal--the food was very good and well priced. Fun open air bar where we all could congregate. Wifi in reception, restaurant and bar. We walked down to the beach and took the bus back--some might prefer to be closer to the beach, or to look out at the ocean, but we were relieved to be away from crowds and to have the shade. The staff was so friendly and helpful--we considered them friends by the time we left!

Room Tip: Ask for room away from the restaurant if you want quieter.
