Lush, tropical, a resort to relax and have a good time. I call it a resort because of the jungle feel! Right on the edge of the forest, and from what people say, the monkeys have started to return to. The rooms are huge and clean. First rate AC in the rooms, and thats important, cause the humidity is high. The staff and Chef are all very helpful and friendly. The grounds are well kept and clean. The pool area is beautiful, with a cool little grotto. Th co-owners Chris and Brian are the best. I particularly took a liking to Chris, as I am a musician/bass player and Chris was a roadie with Motorhead for years. Chris was extremely helpful as he help setup a little show for us to play in a local club, Los Amigos(another great place and owner named Chris also), there in Jaco Beach. Not only does he run a FIRST CLASS hotel, he knows where everything you want to see is, and is glad to help you get there.Chris and his wife are the best hosts in Jaco! I highly recommend Doce Lunas for your stay in Jaco!!! They take care of you!!

From the moment we arrived at Docelunas, both my girlfriend and I were in paradise. The setting is beautiful since it’s right in the middle of the rain forest, surrounded by the sounds of the jungle and gorgeous scenery. There are big gates at the entrance to the hotel, and you immediately know you will feel safe and taken care of. One thing we enjoyed was the various cats roaming the premises. They’re all very friendly and would curl up on our laps at the restaurant or just sitting outside our room. It made us miss the cat at home just a little bit less!

The staff were terrific all around. Brian, the manager, arranged for our pickup at the airport, and was friendly and accommodating throughout. We were the only people at the hotel for our first few days (we were there at the start of the rainy season), so he upgraded our room for no extra cost! The restaurant was great for a filling breakfast (the continental option is free), and the food was great the night we had dinner there. If you go to the bar for a drink you’ll likely run into Brian and his co-manager Chris and they’re more than willing to give you suggestions for dinner or activities around the Jaco area. Make sure to try a Spooky (named after one of the cats) at the bar!

The rest of the staff were great as well. The waiter at the restaurant was very attentive and always refilled my coffee-loving girlfriend’s cup right when she needed it. The front desk guys were attentive and booked all of our tours for us as well as called us cabs at any time of day.

The hotel is not directly on the beach and is about a $5 cab ride into town, but this didn’t detract from the hotel at all. It’s about 2 kilometers if you want to walk, which we did a couple times, but it might be a little hot for some.

Other amenities on the site were great too. We booked a hot-stone couples massage at the spa, which was done by two expert ladies. The pool was great as well. It was very clean and we had it to ourselves due to the small number of guests at the time. There was also wireless on the grounds, which made checking emails and our flight status quick and easy.

If there is anything missing from the hotel is that there is no fitness center on the grounds, though there is free yoga offered just about every day if that's your thing.

Overall we had an outstanding experience at Docelunas, and if you’re staying in Jaco, this is the place to be.

My wife and I eloped in Costa Rica one week ago and could not be happier about choosing the 7 night wedding package at DoceLunas.

From the very beginning, Brian (co-owner of DoceLunas) was a huge help. He helped us sort out all the details and worked with us to plan our ideal wedding. He arranged everything from the florist and photographer to airport transportation. On the day of the wedding, he and a few of his staff went to the beach early and scattered flower petals on the rocks where we had the ceremony. After the ceremony, our photographer, Juan Carlos of El Velo (http://www.elvelophotography.com/) took some magnificent pictures and we headed back to the hotel for a 5 course meal prepared by Chef Miles. Seriously, the best food I've ever had, ever. Thanks to Brian and Chris (owners) and the whole crew at DoceLunas, we had a wondeful wedding that was about as stress free as it could be.

We brought another couple with us as "official witnesses" to the wedding (costa rican law) and for the rest of the week we had a blast doing the activities that were included in the package. Ziplining, horseback riding, waterfall hiking, and surfing were all we had time to do and they were great. In true DoceLunas style, everything was arranged in advance, so all we had to do was enjoy ourselves.

The hotel property is beautiful. The rooms of the hotel are situated around an immaculately kept central garden with all kinds of flowering plants and some cool local wildlife. The picturesque pool is complete with a waterfall, grotto, and beautiful sun and moon tile mosaic. The open-air restaurant/bar area is a great place to hang out. To top it off, the relaxed yet very attentive staff were always nearby to make a drink, whip up a delicious plate of nachos, or speculate the outcome of Euro Cup games / NBA finals.

Would I choose DoceLunas again? Yes

Would I recommend it as a wedding destination? Absolutely

Will I stay at DoceLunas again? Definitely

Room Tip: If the hotel is full try to get a room furthest from the pool, unless you're the ones planning t...

We purchased an auction item that DoceLunas Hotel was kind enough to donate to the ACS.
I did not know what to expect when I got there. Our plane was delayed out of Atlanta; but no worries, the hotel had arranged a car service that took us to the hotel after midnight! We were taken right to our room without any wait. We registered in the morning and was greeted with enthusiasm and efficiency.
The location provides a "rain forest" atmosphere with walkways sharing the space. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there - the pool was great! It has a "grotto" with a waterfall where one can sit and simply relax. It was very well-maintained and clean.
The restaurant was very good. They recently hired a new chef from Washington, DC, who would ask us daily what we would like from his menu list. My husband brought 3 different types of fish back to the chef to cook for us. Again, no problem! Brian and Chef Milo were fabulous.
Chef Milo cooked the fish 3 different ways & presented us with a dinner spread that was "over the top".
We enjoyed the "laid back" atmosphere and took the time to relax and appreciate the hospitality and the facilities. Yet, they also offered wifi when I chose to indulge myself.
I would highly recommend this location to anyone who would like to simply relax; enjoy the company; the atmosphere & the hospitality.

The Hotel facilities (front desk, rooms, grounds, pool and restaurant) are beautiful and peaceful. The staff were very friendly. After having been for 2 weeks, it was painful to leave the easy, laid-back 'family' and friendly place. The management team are knowledgeable and helpful. Brian and Chris are usually around to field questions and to give helpful advice. So many things to do nearby and Jaco is minutes away. We loved it and will be back!

I had a great experience here in january of 2012 everybody was just so welcoming and friendly. Especial the owner you wouldnt exspect him to be the owner at first he seemed more like a guest he was real outgoing and helpfull when i arived he greated us with open arms and had food already made waiting for us in the rooms. the food ther is exceptional along with the great service. This resort sits rite in the heart of costa rica sourounded by beatiful jungle and exotic creatures. The owner (chris) is also very knowledgeable about all the different activities available, especial the nightlife who knows he mite even go out with you for the night if your lucky an take you around to all the hot spots i was lucky enough to ex.periecne that, I recomend this resort if you are planning a trip to costa rica this resort is a must trust me theres really no other resort like this one, you wont regret it.
