Me and a group of friends were staying at Villa Antigua (South Beach) in Jaco and we would always walk to the right when entering the beach because the center of town was that way- as advised by our concierge.
Halfway through the trip we wanted to find something not so heavily promoted by our travel organizer so we went left. Only one block from where we were staying is the point. It's a small beach bar with a tiny open kitchen that serves super fresh food at an amazing value and beers are only $2 all day.
The service and hospitality are unreal. The manager Todd- from the states and his wife Tatiana- a lovely local run the joint and live upstairs. I only mention them specifically because they took the time to intro themselves, hang with us, helped us order, and bought us a couple of rounds of cool local shots.
In a town filled with a lot of tourist traps, the point was the best place we found.
- Lunch is ok: get the tacos and try to get the grandma chef to take a shot with you :)
- breakfast at the Point is by far the best experience we had in Jaco. You spend $7 on a great "typical" dish and you sit at a bar overlooking the beautiful beach during high tide with amazing surfers. Insanely relaxing
- great for visitors who rent houses near the beach near downtown Jaco
Overall, at the point, we felt it was the best experience in Jaco and if we go back, I'd think about staying upstairs at the Point which has a bed and breakfast hotel connected. No frills but Unbelievable service.
And I never write reviews but felt inclined due to such an amazing experience.
