Wonderful trip to Tortuga Island, including snorkeling and banana boat riding. Even the rainy weather didn't deter our fun. Excellent food and staff.

We were picked up on time by a minivan, quickly transported to our destination. Left on time, had some Rum Punch with breakfast! The staff offered some anti-motion sickness pills. I had half of one and enjoyed the ride with no upset stomach. The ride as relatively smooth, in spite of some light rain. The family went snorkeling, I went ashore. Chairs with umbrellas for rent for a minimal amount at the beach. Beach was very relaxing, a little rocky. Bring water shoes for a more comfortable experience. There were kayaks for rent too. The trip included lunch and drinks. There is a very small gift shop at the beach. The toilets are interesting - they work on a hand pump!
On the way back to Jaco we spotted a whale with her calf and some dolphins. This was my favorite outing! Staff was super friendly and helpful.

I decided to have my daughters 11th birthday party on the Pura Vida Princess with a group of over 30 friends and what a great day we all had. I live here in Costa Rica and have taken just about every tour to this Island that there is on offer and by far this trip is exceptional!! JD the captain and his crew have organized the perfect day . The boat offers wonderful views of the surrounding coast line and ocean as it sits higher than the other boats so you can see more. The staff are there for your every need and the breakfast has daily fresh fruits . Everything is orchestrated perfectly there is no delay or waiting around for anything they announce the days events in English & Spanish and have the top snorkeling gear and life vests for family adventure. The lunch is exceptional and to top it all off we saw dolphins and Whales ...... thank you JD & Helen you are the best.......everyone should do this tour while visiting Costa Rica!!!

Best day by far in Cr. all day affair, amazing breakfast, free rum drinks all day, delicious huge lunch. Free snorkeling. We rented chairs on the island for $4 each. Tons to do- banana boat, kayaks, jet skis. We had a blast. Beautiful white sandy beaches! It was amazing!!! The captain and his staff were exceptional!

Overall, my family and I had such a wonderful time on this excursion. The ride to Tortuga Island was amazing with dolphins and whales, the food was excellent, the snorkeling and beach was beautiful and the level of service and enthusiasm was incredible. Also, the price was very affordable. I strongly recommend this day trip if you have time for an entire day.

I read a review here complaining about the food and in another review about paying for activities on the island and i completely disagree. The trip was $110 pp and included the 3 hours on the boat, breakfast (breakfast taco, rice and beans, DELICIOUS pineapple and plantains!) and lunch which was salad, rice and beans and wonderful grilled marinated chicken. Plus the price included all you want soft drinks, coffee, water, rum drinks and margaritas. Where on a RESORT destination can you eat and drink for that price, let alone go on a cruise to a beautiful white sand beach and go snorkeling?

You don't have to pay for any extra activities on the island if you do not wish. My family enjoyed walking the beach, swimming and playing with the various rescue animals that live there. They have Macaws, horses, cats and even pigs! All of the people there are totally delightful and really try hard to make your cruise and visit to the island a rememberable experience.

They have a phrase here, "Pura Vida" that means something like, "life is good/happy and don't sweat the small stuff" This trip wasn't perfect and yes the bathrooms aren't 5-star quality. So what? This is not the Waldorf it is a boat and one needs to have reasonable expectations. If you want a trip full of happy people, good auentic Costa Rican food, beautiful sites and sounds, around a crew of people who are trying their best to make you happy, this is the place for you!

I thank the crew for all of their efforts and will be back again to visit. Pura Vida!!,
