“Fantastic Hike, Great Guide!!”
Reviewed October 16, 2011

I recently went with a friend went with Costa Rica waterfall tours on their Jungle Trekker. They offer tours of several hiking levels, but I like a little more of a challenge and this one is considered moderate to difficult.

The hike itself starts off heading downhill into a cool damp and inviting gully. We explored the area a bit and the pools at the bottom which were perfect for swimming, and you can even hope from pool to pool all the way up to the large waterfall on a good day. With the recent rainfall however, our guide Vlad, felt it was safer to take the trail and go around. And as adventurous as I like to be, I definitely was glad he made that decision for us.

When we arrived to the waterfall, we were able to get right up next to it and feel the immense force of the water. A couple of other tourists and I ventured out onto a rock near the falls for a good photo, but wow!!! was it ever more than I expected. 600 ft is a long drop and the splash of the water nearly blew me off.

The hike back up was a bit intense if you are not used to physical exercise, but it is really pretty short so just when you are not sure if you can do it....you are already there. And for those who are concerned that they may have consumed too many margaritas and beachside fair while on vacation, it is a perfect way to burn off a few calories before heading back home. Nothing beats the beautiful scenery here and getting off the beach and exploring inland Costa Rica is a must do.

I highly recommend this company when you are traveling in the Jaco area. Venturing out to view the waterfalls is a must do activity, and with an amazing guide you will discover so much more than venturing on your own. This tour was well worth the money spent and one of the best days I had in Jaco.

Pura Vida!

“"Jumper" Tour is AWESOME!!!”
Reviewed October 5, 2011

We hesitated a little bit at first because of the cost, but we are really glad we didn't let that stop us. They created a package deal for us and gave us a nice discount. We also went white water rafting and we got a nice discount on that as well. Vlad, our tour guide, was awesome! He was very knowledgeable about the countryside and all the plants and animals. The jumping tour was amazing! Only half an hour walk through some hilly cow fields. Quite a few cowpies, so be careful of those, and also very muddy since it was the rainy season. They do not provide water shoes, so wear tennis shoes you don't mind getting really dirty, or wear some of those Jesus sandals all the goofy looking tourists wear. The pools at the base of each fall are super deep and even jumping from a 25 foot spot, I never felt the bottom. On the walk back, I spotted the first squirrel monkey, and then we ended up having a whole troop of monkeys follow us as we walked back up the river. We saw a sloth in a tree as well. Definitely one of my favorite things we did in Costa Rica. Stop by their booth when you first get to Jaco. They can make some good deals for you the more things you schedule through them. We went ziplining the first day and spent an extra $15 pp we wouldn't have spent had we gone through them to schedule it. Manuel Antonio is beautiful too, but definitely not worth the $90pp they charge for it. Just pay the $10 to get in and walk around yourself. It's a bunch of trails and a few beaches. There's even a spot where you can get in the park without paying. Hope this helps;)

“An amazing tropical experience!”

We took the Explorer tour, which started off with a ride up the side of a mountain. During the drive, our tour guide, Vlad, would stop and point out interesting sites, including some edible insects, which were surprisingly tasty.

Once we arrived at the top of the mountain, we took a short hike to a series of about 15 connected waterfalls, which we hade a chance to frolic in. Vlad was excellent, always offering to take pictures of the group with our own cameras, which he kept in a dry-bag for us.

This was an excellent tour, and I would recommend it to anyone who is interested in eco-tourism in Costa Rica.

We took the extreme 11 hour waterfall tour. Not only did we see beautiful, breathtaking waterfalls, but we also learned a great deal about the indigenous wildlife. The tour guides, Mike & Vlad. were awesome! We highly recommend this tour for anyone coming to Costa Rica!
