Owner description: Pura Vida Gardens and Waterfalls is unique in Costa Rica. It is truly a "Visual Masterpiece". The gardens begin with the natural beauty of Costa Rica and four waterfalls in the property with spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean. To this millions of plants, flowers and orchids from all over the world have been added. Manicured walkways meander long a river and at the crest of the mountain which make the entire 50 acre gardens accessible to all. Have lunch in our restaurant and browse the gift shop that offers authentic Costa Rica gifts.

We visited Costa Rica during March, 2014, and through our cruise ship we arranged an excursion to the beautiful Pura Vida Gardens and Waterfalls. First, our tour included walking on some swinging bridges through the canopy of the rainforest. After a short hike our small bus was scheduled to arrive at Pura Vida for a typical Costa Rican lunch. It was ready for us in the open air banquet area located through the gift shop. Fresh squeezed juices, water and coffee too. The owners are Americans, I believe, and very friendly. We had a wonderful guide named Alejandro from our cruise ship excursion who showed us all around the gardens after lunch. He was able to point out many colorful birds by name. He was also very knowledgeable about the Pura Vida Gardens and the many gorgeous plants and flowers we saw there. He walked us up a path to some amazing waterfalls. Pura Vida Gardens and Waterfalls are unique and recommended to any person that enjoys flowers, birds, photography and nice people.

We visited the Pura Vida Gardens as part of our day long tour organised by Princess Cruises. It was a hot and humid day and following our Skywalk tour in the rainforest we greatly appreciated the delicious lunch and cold drinks provided for us. There are numerous plants and trees and although most of the paths around the garden are simple to navigate for those who might have mobility limitations, there is a steeply stepped section that is considerably more challenging!

The waterfalls were not large although I imagine they are considerably more impressive in the rainy season. They appear to be a fair distance from the main gardens, and our limited time meant we didn't have the chance of a closer look.

As we were on an organised tour, we had the advantage of an extremely knowledgeable guide who seemed to know pretty much everything about all the plants and even demonstrated the unusual qualities of the cashew fruit for us! However without the guide, we wouldn't have been able to identify many of the plants as there is little in the way of information given - maybe this is something that can be improved?

The owners came to meet us and were very personable and friendly, chatting through lunch and giving us information about some of the products available in the well-stocked and very reasonably priced gift shop.

This was a stop on a tour route in Costa Rica offered by Princess Cruises that also included the rain forrest canopy tour. We had a great lunch then we toured the gardens, which were very nice. The owners, Dave & Cindy, were quite friendly, answered any questions, and actually had some of the best prices in their gift shop.

Pura Vida Gardens and Waterfalls was part of a shore excursion while on a Panama Canal(Holland America) cruise. We stopped in for a great lunch and tour of the gardens and waterfalls. The views of the rain forest, gardens and waterfalls are spectacular. I spoke with David(owner) about Costa Rica and the surrounding area and he was most helpful answering all of my questions. David is a very friendly host and makes you feel most welcome. This is a must see while in Costa Rica...

As part of a cruise through the Panama channel we came during a shore-excursion and a skywalk through the rainforest to this wonderfully situated place. Had an excellent lunch and met the very friendly owners before we admired the different plants and flowers of this magnificent area.
