WOW what an amazing place! Can't believe Rancho Burica doesn't have a more raving review in the Lonely Planet. The location of the rancho is at the end of the road and from either Golfito or Pasa Canoas it takes about 2 hours to get there, but OMG it's definitely worth it!
We planned on staying for some days, but we ended up staying 2,5 WEEKS! The dutch managers Jord and Femke do everything to make you feel at home and take very good care of everything. Breakfast & dinner are together with all the guests which is so nice, and the food is really amazing (a mix of European & Tico cuisine).
They offer a wide variety of activities for fair prices, horseback riding and the fishing trip where the absolute highlites of our trip.
If you want to see the best places in Costa Rica, you have to include this place in your itinerary!!!

Room Tip: We stayed in Toffe Tico, this is one of the newly built rooms and great if you want a little bit mor...

Rancho Burica is definitely the best place we stayed at in Costa Rica - ad we've been in the country for 5 weeks ! Femke & Jort are adorable, they will make sure your stay with them is filled with good memories !!!
The place is awesome, just by the beach so if you want to surf or just enjoy the sun, it's a 30 seconds' walk! It is very quiet and laid back, filled with good vibes, good music and gorgeous views. The food is awesome and sharing every meals with them makes it very special.
Do not forget to stop there and don't worry the bus driver knows where it's at ! You will not regret it !

Room Tip: We stayed in the jungle lodge - definitely the good name for the room ! I still don't know what...

It's difficult to do Rancho Burica the justice it deserves. Whilst it isn't the easiest place to get to (which is probably why it is so special) it is just so worth the effort. Jord & Femke were amazing hosts, ensuring that everything was perfect for everyone. Each breakfast and evening meal was catered for, and sitting around a table with fellow travellers was just great fun.I stayed in one of the private cabinas (with en-suite) which was a big size with it's own hammock, chairs, etc. If you are going anywhere in Costa Rica, avoid the hordes and stay here. It is a must!

I stayed at Burica Rancho for 2 weeks instead of my planned 2 days. It was seriously hard to leave this amazing place. The Dutch hosts Jort & Fem were awesome, the food (breakfast & dinner) was heavenly, beautiful hikes, 2 amazing waterfalls, diverse wildlife in the backyard (the jungle) and an amazing place to surf (all levels). Pura Vida!

Super nice location with great hospitality. Great wave in front of the house and beautiful waterfalls nearby. The bumpy road gifs you the real feeling of Costa Rica and brings you to other great surf spots near the house like Pavones or by boat to Matapalo.
Beside surfing the horse ride is amazing.
The Rancho Burica is an relaxing place to stay for a while and shoot the best sunsets, you won't get disappointed, we loved it!

If there ever was a hidden heaven on earth this is the place. . .
Its a bumpy lumpy road that runs down to the place driven by the grey pot-bellied bus driver but well worth it.
In a nut shell this place offers amazing waves, a rain-forest and wilderness so green and full of nature and life its untrue and the places you stay in are to die for and feel homely and at a bargain price. The food here is locally cooked and changes daily so you always get to try something new and yummy :)
My stay here was for seven weeks but, but it truly felt like a couple of weeks as time goes by so fast.
Last but not least I would like to say they have nicest hosts you could ever wish to meet (Jord & Femke) that look after you so well they became my family which actually made it hard to leave.
Like Arnold Schwarzenegger once said. . . I'LL BE BACK X

When I took off to Costa Rica for a one week respite wedged between summer classes and the fall semester for graduate school, I was looking a place that was far-removed, inexpensive (let's be honest, I'm a student), clean and had a decent point break. It had all this and more. Jord and Femke are both friendly and hospitable and the location is gorgeous: a bit of an expedition to get out there, but if that wasn't the case it would probably be overrun by backpackers. Food was delicious, though be prepared to fend for yourself for lunch. And the waves were really good for an unseasoned surfer like myself: consistent and not congested with other wave-hungry people. Tell the grey-bearded bus driver hello for me when you go!
