We have been to resorts from Indo to Fiji to Mex and through most of Central America... This trip was one of the best...

The grounds are botanically rich in tropical splendor, the resort absolutely sparkles and glistens in the midst of this tropical locale, the staff is at your service from the time you rise to the time you choose to go to sleep, the chefs are world class and the activities are endless...

We have special appreciation for Gregg and Goldine's attention to detail and their creation of a world class lodge. Ever was at our service whenever we approached the lodge, the rooms were luxurious and well appointed, and then there was great surfing, world class fishing, hiking the rain forest, hiking the waterfall, first class boatmen (miss you already Tito), and if that isn't enough, there is a well appointed game room, a video room, bocci ball courts, stand-up paddling, kayaking, and...

...well you are not likely to run out of tremendous opportunities to have some fun...

You should go there, we can't wait to go back.

My husband is an avid fisherman and loves to travel to exotic locales to fish. I love the outdoors and eco-tourism. We both love chilling on the beach and experiencing local cultures and regional cuisine. We've found no better place to experience all of this than the Zancudo Lodge. Gregg and Goldine, the lodge's owners, make every guest feel welcome and the staff is probably the friendliest and most accommodating I've ever experienced. (It's not every trip where you're hugging the bartender and waiters when you leave!)

After a short flight from San Jose, you're picked up by one of the lodge's captains and you take a brief, scenic boat ride over to the lodge itself. We were there in the midst of renovations and experienced no interruption in meals, fishing, etc. (I've seen photos of the finished product and it looks fantastic.) The rooms are perfect - A/C, satellite TV (not that you spend a lot of time in the room), a gorgeous shower and comfortable beds. The pool area is a great place to overlook the beach and enjoy a cocktail (I recommend the local beer Bavaria). The food, featuring many regional favorites (and lots of fish) is delicious (my husband can't get enough of the buffalo wings!)

If you want to catch fish - this is definitely the place. I, myself, am not a "big" fishergirl, but Zancudo's expert captains helped me land a 30 lb. rooster. My husband caught a bunch of fish (a variety of species). All of the boats are equipped with everything a fisherman needs (lures, rods, etc.) and the captains know where the fish are. We've never been skunked and always come back to dock tired yet satisfied with the day's catches.

The lodge is surrounded by breathtaking flora and fauna and the beach views can't be beat. If you're into eco-tourism, there's lots to do (I highly recommend the stand up paddleboards) and if you're a surfer, the waves are huge. I can't wait to go back!

Over the last 9 years I have booked groups from 2 to 35 anglers and the experience has always been outstanding! From the moment we arrive in Costa Rica to the time we are dropped off at the international airport, the Zancudo Lodge staff has always been on top of their game making sure that my group is satisfied. Over the past 9 years the Lodge has continued to improve and update and has now clearly emerged as the top lodge in Costa Rica. The fishing year in and year out has been excellent. Every year the lodge continues to update its boats, electronics and fishing gear to make sure that my groups always has the best fishing experience possible. The food at the lodge has always been a big reason why we return year after year. With the new bar and dining area, the experience has only gotten better. The freshly cooked meals make you feel like you are eating at a 5 star restaurant in the middle of paradise. From the area’s best captains to the outstanding lodge staff, no other lodge in the area can even come close to offering the type of service and knowledge that the Zancudo Lodge offers. Thats why I keep coming back year after year.

I must say I have been all over the Southern Zone of Costa Rica, and by far, THE ZANCUDO LODGE, is the most wonderful place of the whole area. Its very comfortable rooms, exquisite dinning, great help and very strategic location, between a very large river, and front views of the Golfo Dulce, makes it very spectacular. I am coming back with a bunch a friends the up coming months...you should also experience it!!!!

I was fortunate to have a three night stay with my girlfiend in early June. I am an experience surfer, she more of a beginner but I am also a fairly avid salt water fisherman. We made this trip to focus on the surf.
The surf did not really cooperate, although really good for my girlfriend. That happens in a 3 night stay. However, we both had the most wonderful time. The rooms were really very nice and the overall property well designed, maintained and operated. The staff were exceptional making sure we were well looked after, or left alone depending on our mood.
The food was exceptional from breakfast through dinner.
We plan on returning but for a much longer stay next time as there was much we would have liked to do but just not enough time.
We ended up having a couple geat days fishing.
The owners Greg and Goldine have really developed an amazing operation in this very remote area of Costa Rica.
Special thanks to Diego, Evi, Christian, Tito and Turtle for looking after us.
Sean

I have been coming to this lodge to fish for the past 10 years. While the fishing has declined a bit in recent years, the lodge has gotten better with every visit. Its almost too nice for fisherman. The food is now first class - every diner was like eating at a 5 star restaurant. The rooms are well appointed and the staff is truly committed to making your stay a memorable one.
