I visited The Golfo Dulce Retreat with my 75 year old mother and it was definitely the highlight of our trip to Costa Rica. We are both nature lovers. Contrary to different hotels we visited in Costa Rica, Golfo Dulce Retreat is a truly sustainable property. Chantelle and Simon have thought of everything, from ecological systems for drying linen and towels, to water management systems. They conservationists and use the proceeds of the property to support their own conservation projects, they are currently working on reforestation of the rainforest. We took two tours with them and two biologists from Cambridge were our tour guides, which make it an incredible experience. The bilumiscence experience was magic, while we were swimming in the dark, we saw some dolphins swimming next to us. We saw all types of wildlife during our visit, from whales, dolphins, monkeys even a cayman!
The cabinas are beautifully designed, very comfortable and super clean. Every morning coffee was served at the terrace of the cabina (Chemex- high altitude Costa Rican blend) , the coffee was delicious. The owners Chantelle and Simon prepare the meals themselves using homegrown ingredients. The food is superb!!! I'm vegan , so they went the extra mile and prepared delicious vegan dishes for me. Simon makes the best cocktails in Costa Rica, with fresh ingredients from their own garden! I cant wait to go back to this paradise! More
