We've planned a 4 night stay in Manuel Antonio, but after arriving decided that 4 was 5 to much. Therefore we did a quick websearch and found Rafiki. Loki (the owner) told us there was plenty of space left so we moved on to... the most amazing place in Costa Rica!

Loki (and his family / team) has done a great job in creating a paradise. We have been several times in South Africa before, and Rafiki has certainly taken the great things from there to Costa Rica. The tents are luxurious with a big bathroom (though you wait 5 minutes for hot water :), and a huge private terras. Our's had a beautiful view of the laguna.

Because Rafiki was almost empty (low season), we spend quiet some time with the staff. Loki took us rafting (wow, even my wife liked it :), where we enjoyed a great lunch. Also we went hiking and horseback riding with Loki and another quest. We had lunch in the nearby village, and felt at home all the way.

The Lodge has a nice dinner room (open), where you will enjoy your full-board Braai. 10 Minutes from the lodge there is a waterfall where you can swim in the morning, and there are plenty of hikes to take.

Loki and all: thanks for having us!

I found out about Rafiki Safari Lodge through a friend in the area and was glad they introduced me to this amazing spot. My boyfriend and I had several amazing meals with local flare while taking in the incredible view the main lodge offers. We also took advantage of the rafting expertise of one of the lodge owners and headed down the Savagre River for quite an adventure. On top of the ride, we also learned about the flora and fauna becase the Rafiki guide has a biologist background. The accomodations were extremely comfortable without taking away from the scenery and rustic feel. Great for a family or couple who loves nature, great food, and adventure!

We were a group of people from around the world, studying and living in Quepos for a month, and we went to Rafiki for a weekend getaway. Best decision ever! Our driver picked us up as planned, making logistics easy, and he imparted interesting facts about the countryside on the drive to the lodge. Once we arrived, we liking zooming down the incredible pool slide, crashing into the cool water, dining on gourmet food at the restaurant, sleeping in the luxury tents while listening to the insects and animals, talking to staff and other guests in the lovely bar area, and everything else. We did the rafting trip, and that will be the highlight of my stay in Costa Rica. The guides are great, and once again shared information about the countryside that you will not find in travel books. Everything about Rafiki is welcoming and wonderful. This is a great get-away from Manuel Antonio and Quepos. Since they'll pick you up in town, the logistics are easy.

Great place for everyone looking to escape from the city and having a blast. From our arrival all the staff was more than great, from the owners that took care of all our needs to the cooks that served us great food with some South African dishes that we really enjoy, everything was perfect.
You can notice that the owners treat all their employees as family and everybody really enjoys working there and providing a 5 stars service.
Getting there is not as complicated as it may seem but I would highly recommend renting a SUV, with the new "highway" to Caldera it shouldn't take more than 3 hours to get there from San Jose.
It is a perfect place to escape from the city and relax, make sure you go rafting and visit the waterfalls it would be a shame to miss it!

We did not stay here. They run whtewater rafting trips from here. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience. There were enough rapids so the trip was fun but this was not an extreme experience -- even first timers would enjoy. They did give us a tour of the rooms. For the adventerous this would be a wonderful honeymoom.spot. The rooms were 5 star tents. Each tent had a veranda and a very nice bathroom.

Our family just returned from a 12 day trip to Costa Rica. We went to three different places: Arenal (Volcano Lodge), Rafiki and then Tamarindo (Capitan Suizo)

While the other hotels were very nice, Rakifi gave us a once in a lifetime experience.

First of all, Lautjie (the owner) and his team couldn't have been nicer. Their passion for Rafiki comes shining through.

The "tents" were great.... Rustic (if you are looking for the 4 seasons don't stay here) and very comfortable

Activities: The rafting was first-rate (as were the guides)..... Hiking trip to the hanging bridges was so much fun and the water-slide was fantasic.

And the food........ Amazing!

The kids didn't even miss TV or cellphones!

Thanks Lautjie!
