Our two family group stayed for 2 nights and 3 days and had a nice time. The lodge and grounds are very well groomed and the pool was fabulous for the kids. It was really cool to be situated between the river and the ocean. The food was ok - seemed to be geared towards a group tour crowd and having to eat at a structured time was a bit of a drag.
What made the place terrific was our guide Luis. He seemed to genuinely be excited to share his knowledge and he clearly loves the area and is proud of his home. His tour of the town was very interesting especially when he spoke of attending the school when it was a one room school house. The town itself is interesting and worth walking around with a guide.
Luis also gave a tour of the Lodge grounds. He was enthusiastic and knowledgable. The frogs and butterflies were an added plus.
Two adults took the early morning tour and it was great. Not sure the kids would have enjoyed it as much as they did the tour later in the morning where they saw a huge cayman.
We want to return (it was a cool place to go) but will consider flying in if our time is limited and only will go when the turtles are hatching.
Thanks again Luis and the folks at Laguna Lodge!More
