Owner description: This park contains 11 different ecological habitats and is a sanctuary for nesting sea turtles. Situated on the Northern Caribbean side of Costa Rica, in the province of Limon, it is approximately 90 miles northeast of the capital city of San José. Accessible only by air or water, Tortuguero is the most important nesting site in the entire western half of the Caribbean for the green turtle. It is known as “Tico Amazon” (Costa Rican Amazon) due to the fact that in Tortuguero there are no roads; the principle means of transportation being the dozens of fresh water canals throughout the park.

So much to see here, even when it's raining.
Howler, spider and white faced capuchin monkeys, anteater, 3 toed sloth, iguanas, blue jean frog and mutliple species of birds.

Was one of the best parts of our trip. Saw caymans, birds, basilisk, monkeys and iguanas. They say it was the dry season but really it was less wet season.

nice boat ride, nice tour, good people, good pilot and guide, and lots of animals. What more could you ask from a boat tour?

Don't miss the Toruguero National Park in Costa Rica.
With the arrival in the town (Tortuguero) begins the adventure. There aren't real streets, only dirt roads. There are only few lamps in the streets... But it belongs to this adventure. :)

Go to the National Park by a row-boat, do not go by a boat with engine. Ask your local guide to bring you in the small canals of the river. (They even do that). You can watch amazing animals in their natural habitation: monkeys, caimans, several birds, turtles, big-big spiders, "curare" frogs, bats... This is a big-big experience. :)

In the afternoon you can go to the rainforest (only with a local guide) to see snakes, birds and other animals.

It is worth going with a local guide, because he explains you a lot of things about the animals etc...

If you would like to eat something, don't miss Katie's restaurant beside the football place. Try the fish or meat with Caribian style rise and beans. You will love it. :)
