We stayed at Miss Miriams for two nights in June 2015. The room was very basic, small and a little run down (e.g. the door to the bathroom would not close). Location is good (close to the beach and the village center and in the evening you can watch the locals play football which is quite fun :-))) )

The staff was nice, though seemed to be a little disinterest and lethargic. They basically just hand you the key and walk away. There is no room service during your stay. On the plus side, the food in the restaurant was good and breakfast is included.

I came back late from the turtle tour to find my room overrun by enormous cockroaches. No one was around to help so I slept on the chair outside of the room. I told the owner and checked out a day early, but he wouldn't compensate the second night and I wound up paying for the room I didn't stay in either of the two nights. I realize that there are cockroaches all over the place in Tortuguero, but there were at least ten on my wall scurrying from one side to the other every time I let out a screech. The fact that he wouldn't give me my money back for the second night bothered me.

Cabinas Miriam are a nice, budget place to stay in Tortuguero. Their location is very quiet, just few steps from the beach and within 5 min walk to the center. The rooms are rather basic with quite tired bathroom (there was no hot water during our stay), the cleanlines was just to say not perfect but the owner was really helpful and friendly. Fast WiFi in the room, Price/quality value was good. Overall we had safe and nice stay.

We (couple, 41 & 50) stayed at Miss Miriam's 2 for two nights in February 2014. We paid $30 a night for a room with a private bathroom and fan. The room was large with three beds (1 double + 2 singles). It was very basic - no closet, shelves or chair. The bathroom was large but rustic. The shower had an electric showerhead, but warm water was not wa ted in the hot climate. There is a large common area with a view of the beach and good breeze but lacked comfortable seating. The beach was 100 meters away. It is a beautiful beach with some shade but no access to chairs or umbrellas. The surf is rough and we were warned against swimming. The hotel is two minutes walking from restaurants, shops and the boat landing. There is no ATM. The entrance to Parque Nacional Tortuguero is five minutes away walking. Cabinas Miss Miriam's 2 is very basic and an average value compared to other places in Tortuguero Beach.

We ended up here by mistake, but found ourselves very satisfied: clean rooms and simple honest hospitality. Quiet at night and afternoon fun with funny footbal matches, both male and female. But the best, is to be found in the restaurant comment
