It seems that we are not alone in loving the restaurant on the edge of Tortuguero Village. The young owners are doing of wonderful job of serving creative and tasty food at a very fair price. I had their peach palm hummus and the beef stew. Both were excellent.

The couple running this restaurant have set up a unique place in Tortugero. The food is all freshly prepared by the wife ,whilst her husband runs front of house. We had paid for full board at the Pachira lodge but still chose to pay to eat at the Wild Ginger both nights- it was that good. We paid about 25 usd a head for shared starter, main and cake each but do not miss the pineapple smoothies. Great quality meals .highly recommended.

Unfortunately, you won't stumble upon Wild Ginger in Tortoguero. You need to know it is there and go searching for it! However, it is WELL worth the search! OFF the beaten path - out towards the Caribean - it is in a beautiful spot! It was the prettiest place we ate in Tortuguero - but the food was out of this World!

I'm SO glad we went for a selection of the appetizers because they were truly stunning! Suprising - Delicious and very well composed! They were the perfect start to an incredible meal. Everything we had at Wild Ginger was absolutely delicious - and the Green Papaya Salad that came with my meal (Ginger Shrimp) still makes me happy!

Husband had a beef dish which he loved, and kids were thrilled with the Burgers! We had the brownie dessert which was fabulous as well! Grownup food for the grown ups - and food to make the kids happy too!

Add to that the service - Jen and her husband made our night! They were the perfect hosts!

This was hands Down our best meal during our NYC and Costa Rica vacation!

If you are bored having rice and chicken, go and try this restaurant. We chose it because of a recommendation of our host and the good reviews here on tripadvisor. I had the guacamole and especially liked the homemade coconut corn tortilla crisps. My main dish the apple bacon roulade was delicious, so was the dessert. My husband chose the hamburger and said it was nothing special. So if you are there, go for the more elaborate dishes, a hamburger you can eat anywhere and maybe even better prepared.
