“Best dinner in tortuguero!”
Reviewed February 13, 2013 via mobile

Went here on our first night in tortuguero because of all the good reviews on trip advisor.
We both had the wild ginger burger, because the reviews were so good. And we weren't let down: it was a REALLY good and fresh burger! They had a lot of special things on the menu besides the burger.
Very good service of the host of that night.
Follow the discription on the website of how to get here, max 8 min walk from centre of tortuguero.

“Very delicious”
Reviewed February 10, 2013 via mobile

This is the best food we ate in Tortuguero. It both looked really nice, and tasted just as good. The price is about the dubble of Budda cafe, but this must have a high class chef in the citchen. Its a little tucked away, but has a nice ocean breeze to cool you down. Also the barefooted whaiter is very nice.

“Not what we were hoping for”
Reviewed February 10, 2013

Having read the rave reviews and with very limited options for eating in Tortuguero I reserved a table for 2 nights.
The restaurant lies close to the beach and some 300 metres from the village centre. The dining area is quite large with a very high ceiling and as a consequence lacks atmosphere or any feeling of intimacy. This situation was not helped by the fact that on our first night only two other tables were occupied, and on our last night we were the only couple there.
Yes the service was very welcoming but in the circumstances I would think only to be expected.
My wife and I shared a guacamole with chips, the portion was considerably smaller than those we had enjoyed before in the Puerto Viejo region, and hardly enough for one. My steak was OK but I was disappointed that it was only served with mash together with lettuce and shredded carrot. I appreciate that the philsophy is only to serve fresh food and with supplies having to be brought in by boat this is not easy. A situation I am afraid where the description of the dishes did not match the actual presentation and taste.
In summary nothing to actually fault, but a disappointment as we had expected more.

“Excellent food, setting and host”
Reviewed February 4, 2013

A little off the beaten Tortuguero tracks, this place more than deserves a visit. The host Jose offers excellent service and intelligent and informative conversation while serving his wife Jennifer's delicious food. A great place for an evening chillout!

“haute cuisine”
Reviewed January 25, 2013

It's quite easy - there are several solid restaurants in Tortuguero, but the one really distinguished for its food is Wild Ginger. This place would be a popular spot in any major city, moreso in a small village that Tortuguero is. Prices are slightly above most competitiors, but still good. Recommended.
