My husband and I stayed at Miss Junie's hotel for 3 nights and ate dinner at the restaurant one night. We had jerk chicken with coconut red beans and rice, other sides and wine and beer. The jerk chicken was good! Generous portions. Local flavor. They accommodated my gluten intolerance concerns well (showed the waiter my Spanish language restaurant card). No issues after eating! The service is slow (I only saw one waiter working in the restaurant during our entire stay), but we had no other plans that night and enjoyed a relaxed meal.

My wife and I just ate here. She had a veggie dish and I had a salad. The prices are comparable to many places in tortuguero. It was clean and you can see into the kitchen before you enter the restaurant.

Want to try some delicious local food???
Go ask for the Rondón, you have to ask for it with hours of anticipation because is a dish that takes several hours to be cooked. But it is soooooo worthit. Seafood and local vegetables combined, coocked in coconut milk with local spices... Seriously, you will enjoy this dish.
For desert, i am not sure if they are offering it but if they are and you are on ''Fruto de pan'' season, ask for criminal. Is a sweet desert cream with almonds on top...
Miss Junies is the heart of Tortuguero, it has the history of the first families that inhabited town many decades ago.
A total must.
And as everything in town, go with NO RUSH, this place is not like a big city, is a peaceful town and that is how people lives and works, if you play along with their lifestyle, their love, you will not stress, and will actiolly experience what is like to live with no hurries...

Incredible !: recommanded by lonely planet.we arrive in this nice restaurant, we order for fish but the waiter say us ont less, we believe they cook fresh product,we understand and we get two classics salads and two glasses of white wine: the two salads were prepared with the same vegetables cut clumsily, one with chicken and the other one with tuna can!
And the best is for the end: the bill!: 33 dollars! The glass of white Winehouse cost 7,40 dollars !!
Never go in this bad ( for the food, the price and the mentality about customers) restaurant, you will be very disapointed.

we could have had another night of great food at our lodge but wanted to try the local flavor and were recommended to go to Miss Junies restaurant. we were only 1 of 2 families there and the place felt deserted. Every dish was super salty and both our foodie kids could not finish there meals and one felt sick after all the salt he tasted. would not go back.
